I only have MGUS at this stage. I am going to run my own clinical trials with cannabis oil. I will try do it through my haematologist, but if he doesn't want to, I will just do my own.

Last year I had a 5 cm lump on my prostate. After 3 months on hemp oil, I went back to the oncologist for operation and it had Magically Disappeared.

I want to find out if cannabis oil can keep mine at the MGUS stage or eliminate MGUS even.

I will be using 2 medicines, curcumin (turmeric) & hemp oil.

Let you know how I go ...

Re: Medical Cannabis Treatments? - Myeloma

I have had multiple myeloma for eleven years. At the time I was diagnosed at stage 3B, the average life expectancy was only about 18 months. I have been in complete remission for 11 years. I have used MJ almost all of that time, with a few breaks here and there. I started originally for appetite stimulation and nausea control. I truly believe I would not have survived without it.

When the news first stared hitting a few years back that MJ can have curative effects on some cancers, I was delighted.

It is truly a sin and an outright disgrace that most cancer patients cannot access MJ without fear of prosecution.

Re: Medical Cannabis Treatments? - pnemonia / infections

by MJ38 on Sat Jul 26, 2014 8:37 pm

I have been a myeloma patient and survivor for 11 years. In that time I have had both upper and lower lung infections more times than I can count, at an average of probably 3-4 times a year. It's normal routine for me at this point and I have become an expert on identifying it early and getting treated before it becomes too serious.

I have also had the fear of the MJ contributing to these infections, but believe it or not, I realized that I actually get more lung infections when I stop using MJ than I do when I am using it. The majority of my infections have been during times when I was "cleansing" myself from THC.

I do not claim to know the mechanism as to why MJ seems to protect me from infections or why it does the other things, I just know it does.

I do however mainly use a vaporizer to minimize any lung damage caused by the hot smoke. I also use the MJ sparingly. I don't rip huge bong hits a bong all day long.

Re: Medical Cannabis Treatments?

The response to this question can be found searching PubMed and searching the NIH (National Institutes of Health) database. Also, reading the many recent studies abstracts, searching Google Scholar.

Having searched these sources, I am confident that my health can be restored and be cancer free without chemo. Cannabinoid receptors in our bodies can be utilized to bring our bodies back to wellness.

The new question is should multiple myeloma patients take THC found in medical marihuana (search Rick Simpson's cannabis oil) or CBD (hemp oil which is legal in every state).

Hope this is helpful.

I have been researching medical cannabis also. As Carolyn just noted, a question seems to be if myeloma patients are getting positive results from THC oils (such as Rick Simpson's recipe) or CBD rich cannabis in any form. I have my license and am ready to give this a serious attempt. Any further input about the types of cannabis that members used to achieve good results will be appreciated.

Sorry to bring up such an old post, but for those of you researching "Rick Simpson Oil" to help cure multiple myeloma, do not - I repeat do not - make the oil with naphtha and isopropyl like Rick Simpson says to. Please use alcohol!

Rick Simpson claims the iso will not leave behind any harmful residue, but over a prolonged period of time it will! Educate yourself before you jump right in.

As a former very long time recreational cannabis (40 plus years) user, I submit the following:

  1. Cannabis will not necessarily provide a pleasant, diversionary experience, it will magnify whatever is on your mind, if you're on a negative thought track, worrying about something, you may well be awake all night REALLY worrying about it.
  2. It did not help me sleep, on the contrary, kept me awake many hours if I smoked it late in the day.
  3. I stopped all intoxicant use upon starting multiple myeloma treatment, wine , beer and pot. This was my decision, I actually never asked my doc's, just thought it a good idea.
  4. I did try some medical marijuana candies twice after starting treatment, it did very little, almost nothing, to alleviate pain. Where it did seem to help was with physical therapy. My body temporarily felt "looser" and I was able to go a little further with the exercises.
  5. I cannot speak to how it might affect appetite as I state above I haven't used it enough during treatment and have been lucky to not have encountered many problems with eating.

I have newer smoked tobacco, and inhaling anything should probably be avoided. Including hash.

I have tried to read about cannabis, and a lot of people are trying to convince others that it can cure this or that cancer. However, I have not seen any trustworthy information substantiating this. Maybe I did not search deep enough.

I have seen more serious articles about positive effect on nausea from cannabis or derivatives. I do not know if it is better/safer for this purpose than the medications supplied by the hospital.

If you plan to make a tincture, use olive oil. Seriously, an Italian study just showed this was the most efficient extraction means.

If you plan to make an oil, do NOT use naptha, isopropyl, butane or propane. The toxic materials these will leave behind will have a negative impact on your cancer treatment.

If you want to use alcohol, find organic ethanol online. Beware, though, that the prices quoted do not include shipping or Federal Excise Tax.
