Mike,

We are in Canada. Unlike the U.S., where there are battles over medical marijuana between state and U.S. federal governments at times, criminal and drug laws in Canada are the ex­clusive juris­diction of the federal government. Provinces have some law-making power over whether or not a particular drug is covered by the public system if a person doesn't have private pharma insurance, and which level a medical professional can prescribe.
