Day +6

We just got back from clinic and they gave him a bag of fluids just to be on the safe side since his appetite is down and his fluid intake is somewhat less than normal. The nausea meds are still working good and he is still eating small meals, but feels so wiped out.

His labs did not indicate any blood products needed, but I did not get exact numbers. We are in for the day. Back to clinic at 9:30 tomorrow.

Thanks for all the good wishes. It will be a week tomorrow since the high-dose chemo. We went to clinic today and his WBC is 1.3, hgb 11.4, rbc 3.52, platelet 137,000. He has eaten better today (still not like normal, but better). He did not have to have fluids today, so we were in and out pretty quick. We have appointments daily through Friday, and then I guess we will see.

Sounds like hubby is doing great! His blood counts are really holding up. Don't be surprised if they drop a few notches in the next few days. His wbc will probably come close to zero at some point. Then you know it has hit bottom and the trajectory changes direction, and it comes back up, sometimes really quickly if they give him Neupogen. It's great that he is able to eat, even a small amount. Many of us were not able to do that, (ME!) But, I can tell from your postings that he is a very hardy individual. That will serve him well.

Continued good luck with the transplant. And don't forget to take care of yourself, dogmom! Keep us posted!

They will start Neupogen today for 5 days. He ate much better yesterday but is having a hard time today. He did go outside the motel (masked of course) and walked some in the fresh air. We go to clinic at 2 p.m. today.

This is one week today since chemo. We are thankful for no throwing up (thanks nausea meds) and no diarrhea or fever. Hope this holds up.

He is beginning to get a little "out of sorts, so to speak" due to the fatigue. I think he feels like he has taken a big step back as I was afraid he would. Plus staying in a motel away from home is hard as well. We still have a long way to go here in the motel.

Will post after clinic. Thanks everyone.

Well, his WBC is down to 0.6, platelets at 117,000, HgB is 11.7. His ANC count is 0.5. They started his Neupogen injections today but no fluids. He will see the doctor tomorrow at clinic.

He has been struggling to eat and drink today. It has been one week since chemo. Five days since transplant.

Day + 6

His WBC is 0.4, HgB 11.5, platelet 94,000. They did not list his ANC today. So far no more fluids needed and no blood products. He got his second Neupogen injection and back to clinic to see the doctor and blood draws tomorrow at 8:30 am. He is still very tired and just snacking on whatever he can to keep something in his tummy. But no throwing up or diarrhea. Meds still working.

It is getting really boring here at the motel and we have not even been here a week. CMA music fest is going on now in Nashville, and since we are close to downtown, we watch the traffic and visitors out our window. Lots of extra activity here for the next few days.

We miss our little fur baby as well. We know our son is taking really good care of him and we FaceTime. Rascal does not know what to think when he hears Mommy and Daddy's voice coming out of the iPad. LOL :

We are waiting at the clinic to see the doctor. It is routine doc visit day. His WBC & ANC counts are both 0 today. Platelets down to 54,000 and HgB holding at 11.7.

It has been 9 days since chemo and one week since transplant. He is finding it very hard to eat and or drink. He has nausea but meds are still holding the vomiting at bay. No diarrhea. He is SO tired and getting a little "cranky " LoL.

It is very boring at the motel. No mouth sores so far. The nurses say it is all routine and hopefully this will be his worst days and he will start the upward trend by first of next week.

Keep good thoughts for us.

Good morning, Cathy.

Everything still seems to be going according to plan, which is great news. You're right, now that he's bottomed out, he should start improving a little every day. He seems to have been far less plagued with nausea and vomiting than my husband was - that was pretty intense for about Days 3-8. So glad everything is still going well - you're on the downhill side now!

My best to both of you, Debra
