Very glad to see that your husband has handled the transplant so well. Thanks for sharing his (and your) transplant experience with us.

Had a very good clinic visit today. WBC is 2.7, HGB is 10.7, Platelet is 98,000. All his kidney functions are well in the normal range. BUN is 10.0 and creatinine is 0.9!

We get to blow the motel on Saturday and go home! We have a clinic appointment Monday for blood work recheck and they are setting a day at that time to pull the central line (CVC). He has also been released to drive no further than our home to the clinic for now and around our house and town.

Thank you for sharing your journey. Praying for you all the way.

We anticipate my husband's transplant mid August. We start mid July with all the routine tests. We will have to stay in a hotel or facility near the hospital in a studio. We live a little over an hour away, so that won't do.

Tell your husband to keep up the good work, and energize your own batteries. Lol

Day +22

We are home! We were so glad to get home. We will be sleeping in our own bed tonight for the first time in almost a month. I can tell he is glad to be home.

Hi dogmom,

Yay! That's great news. I remember finally getting back home after more than a month away during my stem cell transplant. It was a huge relief to be back home, and it felt like my recovery progressed 10 times faster from that point on.

Best wishes to you and your husband for smooth sailing through the rest of the recovery period.
Mike

Yes, he is already eating better and moving around more. I think the motel room was beginning to get to him. We are waiting on a call from clinic for the appointment to pull the central line.

I had a transplant at the University of North Carolina bone marrow transplant unit last month and came home on June 3rd after the removal of my central line catheter. The only problem I had was two bouts of severe dizziness two days after being home. I fell during one of them, landing on my face and left side of my chest. My advice is to stay very well hydrated and to take your time from getting up from a reclining position, and to get assistance for the least bit of dizziness. Fortunately, since that day, I have had no dizziness problems.
