Started back on induction yesterday. We decided to try one more round of Velcade. Concern is the neuropathy that has been creeping up on me and the burning / marks on my skin that aren't going away. After this cycle we'll decide to stay with Velcade or move to Kyprolis.

They took a full myeloma panel, and I got the immunoglobulin numbers today. IgG is down to 880 mg/dl! That's despite being off of everything for 15 days. Pretty happy with that. I should get the free light chain and M-spike numbers in a few days.

I'm slowly recovering from the surgeries, am off all the pain medications, constipation is gone. I'm on the walker, but may switch to the cane on Friday. Mostly just discomfort at this stage. Because of my back, I'm having a hard time finding a comfortable sleeping position. My options are only right side and on my back, and those get old quickly. :) Still, though, it gets better each day. I did take an Ativan (lorazepam) to help me get to sleep two nights, but don't need those anymore.

Glad to be back on the wagon!

Sounds like great progress, Chris. Congratulations on the rapid healing after the femur operation and the reduction of your M-spike.

It sounds to me as of you are getting excellent treatment, and the prospects for further progress look great.

I got very good results from Kyprolis, combined with Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide) and dex. It worked for about eight months. Velcade never worked for me, which was just as well because I was concerned about peripheral neuropathy, which is much less common on Kyprolis.

I wish you continued good luck!

Quick update. More Velcade today.

Got my leg stitches out. M-spike is at 0.5 g/dl (5 g/l), lambda free light chain level is at 30.1.

Glad to see you got your stitches out, Chris. Even happier to see the response you've gotten so far from your treatment. That's a big drop in your M-spike, going from 2.9 g/dL at diagnosis down to 0.5 g/dL in just over a month's time.

You're not quite at a very good partial response (VGPR), which requires a 90 percent drop in your M-spike, and it's looking like you should be able to get to a complete response (CR) in a couple more cycles. That's great!

Chris,

So happy you are on the mend. I am really happy about your numbers. I too have the red burns from the Velcade, but no neuropathy. So, since it's working, my doctor is keeping me on the Velcade, Revlimid, and dexamethasone (VRD / RVD). Finish my second round of 12 on Tuesday. Hoping to see further reduction in the labs. My IgG is still 1500, but down from 10,000. My M-spike dropped from 7.2 to 1.5 g/dl (72 to 15 g/l). Not bad for one cycle.

Keep on trucking my friend. We got this.

Just checking in! Hope you are doing well, Chris.

I had my labs post round two this week. M-spike is down from 7.2 to 0.47 g/dL. All other labs are now within normal limits.

So hopefully with 10 mire cycles I can get into a complete response.

I'm doing well. I got the staples out of my back last week. I'm sleeping much better now. It seemed like every day was a constant struggle to find a comfortable position to sit/lay/stand.

Confirmed via X-ray that my femur isn't losing any more bone. It looks like a tiny bit has grown back, but not much. I'm comfortably walking with the cane now, and driving myself to work. The surgeon says I'm doing really well and expects me to be walking without the cane in 6-10 weeks.

Switching to Kyprolis, Revlimid, dexamethasone (KRD) next week, and getting my second Zometa injection. I think they are testing again the second week in February to check my M-Spike and FLC numbers.

I had to back off of the ketogenic diet because I lost too much weight. I got down to 163 pounds (from a previous 190), and none of my jeans fit. I'm trying to get back to 170, and I'm almost there.

Funny, I need to figure out a way to politely ask people not to hit me in the back because they're happy to see me. I've had some painful hellos from well-meaning people that I haven't seen in awhile.

I'm really looking forward to being able to exercise again.

Awesome to see the huge reduction in your M-Spike, Benny!!
