Kim, I hope you get to go home as planned. Thanks for sharing your transplant experience.
I am scheduled for transplant in mid October and I found your posts to be interesting, helpful and informative. Getting reunited with your family and being at home should have positive impact on your recovery. I wish you all the best.

Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
It's Day +25.
I'm checking in to say that my appetite is BACK! All of a sudden, I am able to eat and eat well. I should have no trouble gaining weight back.
When I was released the first time from the hospital, they told me I was leaving at the weight I had started. But I suspected this was due to the amount of fluids I received. Immediately after, my weight begin to drop, about 2 kg (1 kg=2.2 lbs) each time I was weighed in the ITA. As of last Thursday, I was down about 7 kg in total -- or about 15 lbs I didn't need to lose.
But I am feeling great now, having feelings of hunger at last and being able to handle more than the tiny meals I had been having for weeks. My sister just made white chocolate chip cookies. Yum!
We are still expecting my return to home on Monday.

Hi Kim,
You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for your posts!
My husband was just diagnosed. He'll be starting treatment this week. After several cycles, his oncologist will be sending him to Stanford for a stem cell transplant. Reading your updates is giving us so much hope!
Wishing you the very best!

Day +28
I am so happy my posts have been helpful. To any of you who have questions, please feel free to post here. I am very happy to help.
I am home, at my real home in Concord! There is one very happy cat here. He had been looking for me for a month and is now satisfied that I have come back. And I think my kids were glad to see me too.
I am on an injectable blood thinner for my clot and a few other meds, but not too many. My white count is in the 4's, my hemoglobin is normal too. I feel great!
I have been cleared to go off the low microbial diet and I no longer have to wear the HEPA mask when outside, although I will wear it to med appointments until day 60. But I sort of talked the Physicians Assistant into letting me off the restrictions 3 days early. He knew what I wanted ... restaurant food! It was chile rellenos for dinner last night, and I handled it just fine.
It is a gorgeous day here today and I did a 2 mile walk. I won't be cleared to run for a while, mostly due to the blood thinners, but I feel like I could take on the world!
Best of luck to you all. Again, I am here for you should you like my input at any time.

Kim you are a true inspiration. Wow, a two mile walk at day +28. I just hope that my husband, who is at day +5, does as well as you. He is struggling with a temperature at the minute, which is being treated with antibiotics. Apart from that, the doctors are saying that he is doing really well, but they keep saying that things may get difficult when his counts drop.
Fingers crossed he follows in your foot steps.
Thanks for the rays of hope,
Suzi

Kim, I could not be more impressed with your recovery! Rock on!
Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Kim - that is truly incredible news. Everyone is different in their responses, but you have probably had the best SCT response ever. Enjoy food again, let the sun shine on your face and gently get back into the groove. Fluffy the cat needs some belly rubs at home

Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
It is Day 32. So it was a good day for 3.2 miles. I went out to see some of my friends running a trail race. I had a free race entry from some volunteering I had done last spring. So, I had a blast walking the race. There were some steep hills, but it was great. I felt completely exhilarated when I finished!
Just trying to spread a little hope here! And wishing all the best to you going through this now!
