Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Thanks for the update Kim. You didn't think you'd be the first patient to get through SCT without a hitch, did you?
So wonderful they were able to respond promptly. It sounds like you are continuing to get magnificent care and are maintaining a positive outlook. Although, as you say, those pain meds don't hurt either.

Sorry you had a minor setback kim. I'm sure you will overcome it soon. I still think you have done fabulously well! I thought something might be amiss when you didn't post for a couple of days. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Thank you everyone for your concerns and good wishes. I feel like I have a whole other family here in addition to my family and friends!
I will be having an echocardiogram today just be sure no bacteria is in my heart. Tomorrow they will recheck the ultrasound.
I had mentioned that I would just be checking in every few days, rather than daily, since I was out of the hospital. I figured you all would be tired of me by now! But for now, I'll try to keep you up to date until this latest issue is over.
I thought I might start to get a little depressed coming back here, but honestly, I am doing really well. I have great nurses and doctors and I am getting the best of care. I am where I need to be right now. I'm sure I'll be back at the apartment soon!

Wow, Kim. Wow. This is really great stuff that you've put together here about your transplant. What a great way to help other patients who are wondering about what goes on when getting a transplant. And what spirit!
Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Greetings from Day +21.
My echo checked out OK. They are going to wait to repeat the ultrasound until Thursday. After two days of no fevers, I am back at the apartment with a couple of changes in my meds.
Eating is still difficult, but I have been told by the dietician I have to try. It's the only way my stomach will get used to handling food again.
I am pleased to say that the 3 week long bout of diarrhea may have finally come to an end. Yay!
Have a nice evening everyone!

Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Hi Kim! Glad to know you are out of the hospital. I hope food starts to look go you again soon. It seems that is one of the last things to normalize from others' accounts. I hope you have people around you who will cater to whatever cravings you may have.
Are you allowed outside? I hope you are and the weather is good Maybe a little fresh air will stimulate your appetite?
I hope you can go home soon!

Day +22
Hi! I just thought I would check in quickly. Not much going on today, but I am eating a little better. I am starting to get a little hungry and trying to eat more small meals. I've got a ways to go, but things are going in the right direction!

Re: KimT's Stem Cell Transplant (Stanford, Inpatient)
Day 23
I had an ultrasound on my leg this morning but do not have results yet. My appointment was at 9:15 and I had an appointment at the ITA (Infusion Treatment Area) at 1:30. We made two trips to the hospital because waiting around would have forced me to keep the hepa mask on all that time. It's not very comfortable, so I'm grateful to my current caregiver, my sister, who didn't mind driving me back and forth.
At the ITA appointment, I was given fluids because my blood pressure was even lower than usual. Most of my blood work checked out fine, though. We were hoping for the green light to return home, but they want to see me Monday before letting me go.
I am ready. I miss my family. Tomorrow marks 4 weeks since I have been home. I'm very hopeful it will be soon!
