Welcome to another edition of The Myeloma Beacon’s “Weekly Poll”. This week’s question is about participation in clinical trials.
A few clarifications:
First, this question is intended for readers who have multiple myeloma, smoldering multiple myeloma, or MGUS.
Second, when we say "multiple myeloma-related clinical trial," we mean a clinical trial that either tests a treatment for myeloma or MGUS, tests a treatment for symptoms or side effects commonly experienced by myeloma or MGUS patients, or tracks the progression of any of these diseases.
Third, if you are a caregiver of a myeloma or MGUS patient, please answer on behalf of the patient you care for.
Once you have answered the question above, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.

If you have not already participated in a myeloma-related clinical trial, would you participate in one? (Same poll run in 2012)

Re: Weekly Poll - Would You Participate In A Clinical Trial?
Greetings,
I recently participated in the survey regarding Would You Participate In A Clinical Trial?, and I'm not surprised that so many would like to participate. Actually, I completed NIH forms and applied to them from January to March 2013 and unfortunately I had to send my medical records multiple times, (they kept getting lost at NIH). I've received very little interest from them, but did receive a letter stating that the problem seems to be lack of funding for trials. I'm told I might be contacted in October 2013 if my name comes up in the que. This is very disappointing. I have smoldering myeloma and was diagnosed last July 2012 and currently see my oncologist every 3-6 months. I hope the survey results will help those like me that are waiting to hear if and when we can be part of a study. Thanks for your interest and support of those of us with myeloma.
