Welcome to another edition of The Myeloma Beacon’s “Weekly Poll”. This week’s question is about participation in clinical trials.
A few clarifications:
First, this question is intended for readers who have active multiple myeloma, smoldering multiple myeloma, or MGUS.
Second, when we say "multiple myeloma-related clinical trial", we mean a clinical trial that either tests a treatment for myeloma or MGUS, tests a treatment for symptoms or side effects commonly experienced by myeloma or MGUS patients, or tracks the progression of any of these diseases.
Third, if you are a caregiver or spouse of a myeloma or MGUS patient, please answer on behalf of the patient you care for / are married to.
Once you have answered the question above, feel free to add whatever comments you feel might be relevant in the discussion below.

Re: Weekly Poll - Have You Participated In A Clinical Trial?
My partner participated immediately after his dx in Aug. 2007 in a trial with Bortezomib, Dexa and Cyclophosphamid before autologous sct. Now he participates in a trial with pomalidomide and Dexa. Both were/are very helpful. His blood counts became in 2007 very quickly really good, and pomalidomide has now, after the first cycle the same effect. IgA, LC Kappa, Bß2 Microglobuline etc. are on a normal level. The soft tissue manifestations he had - a lot, a big one around his left eye, one, big as an egg in his left breast, some smaller at his head, disappeared after one week with Poma.

Yes, I am currently enrolled in the N.I.H. Study for MGUS/SMM and they do Bloods and Bone Marrow tests. Extremely Nice Doctor's and Nurse's...so Gentle Speaking and Kind. Love Them!
