Every one has to do what they think is right for them.
I was talking to a lady that had liver cancer that spread all over including her heart. Her heart! She had heart surgery. When she was in the hospital she was to receive chemo. They forgot to give it to her! They had given her 3 months, so what is the point of the chemo? She came home and juiced for 3 months. She than went vegan and long story short, I talked to her on the phone yesterday. She still has cancer in the liver, but was diagnosed TWENTY YEARS ago. She is still going strong and her body is holding the cancer just to the liver and coping with it twenty years.
Another man that lives near me had liver cancer that spread. He did chemo and than did the trials. I would see him and it made me so sad. His body was tortured. He lived not even a year.
Another neighbor has Lymphoma. He went vegan. Two years ago diagnosed. He is 70 years old and works hard. Doesn't look or act sick, feels great. The tumours are shrinking.
Two other neighbors, cancer. Did chemo, dead in less than a year.
That is just right around me.
Even if chemo kills the cancer it causes other cancers! Have to read the story on how it started. Started from using mustard gas on one mouse who tumours shrunk, but the mouse died a few months later. The other mice it was use on died. The alternative doctors presented their cases of PEOPLE being cured but Congress was so impressed with that one mouse that had tumours that shrunk and so chemo was added as legal treatment for cancer.
Has any one died of natural causes of old age with multiple myeloma using chemo and raidation?
Just a lot of questions on my side.
I don't want to buy time. Which by the way, is worth a lot of money. multiple myeloma treatments is big business, drug compainies are making a lot of money!

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Oh Dee 777, I DO want to buy time! But actually the treatments I had worked well and am not on drugs at the present time. Cancer is very frightening and of course no one can predict a certain patient's prognosis. I just feel that studies have shown that the odds are in my favour if I follow medical advice...I don't think there is any particular 'conspiracy' theory surrounding cancer treatments, even if others do think that.
I also have known people who had terminal cancer and palliative care was all that they had really. That was terribly sad but it made me motivated to try to seek help in a timely fashion, once I knew I had myeloma. Myeloma is a different cancer than liver cancer, and I don't think you should really compare the two...one is a blood cancer, the other a solid tumour sort. But I am not an oncologist, so cant' really elaborate...I go to expert medical help for that reason too. (And I am glad to hear that some of your friends survived cancer with unconventional treatments too, although maybe you should try to study that up more before drawing the conclusion that that is the best path for you also.) Anyways, you do have options to explore...that's the beauty of living in this place and time really.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
I am glad it is working for you Nancy! The thing about multiple myeloma, since it is a blood cancer and we are dealing with the cells, the vegan diet has been very successful for this particular cancer. The idea is making the blood akaline, cancer does not survive in an akaline environment.
Also, I take mico nutrients to feed the healthy cells. Our immune system is still working. You get a cut it heals, ect. Unless chemo interferes and kills too many of the healthy cells.
Please understand, I am not in any way wanting to offend or judge. I am only giving the details of what I am doing for educational purposes and just to offer a different ensight that few even know or heard of. A doctor is not legally able to present alternative methods, only cut, poison, burn. So unless some one like me says hey, guess what I am doing!, you will never hear of it.
I am going in Wed to have more blood drawn and next Thurs I have an app. with a new oncologist that is willing to work with me. I will update how I am doing.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
I am glad to see this thread is actually alive. i thought no one was into alternative therapies except us and Dave. In a couple of weeks I have been reading and spending hours of my time searching through millions of blogs, posts, treatments, youtubes, just name it. I have not found one proof that chemo cured. I did find that people cured themselves. I also found out that as each of us is unique, there will be no universal therapy that can be applied to all and have the same effect on all. Dee777, you are on vegan diet - that's what Gerson therapy prescribes, but for many many multiple myeloma patients this therapy actually did not help. The reason as per Dr. Gonzalez (I got in touch with the woman who is following this therapy for her multiple myeloma) explained that multiple myeloma patients are for some reason already born too alkaline. Most of them are meat eaters!!! And going vegan may only stop the cancer from spreading as you are cleaning the body and pumping it with nutrients in the amount it has never received before. however, Gerson was not able to cure multiple myeloma patient, vegan diet mainly being the reason. So all I want to say is - vegan diet is working for you and it is GREAT! If it is not working for other it is just merely because their body is different from yours.

Hmmmm, I went to the Gerson's website. They have listed multiple myeloma as a cancer they have reversed. Have you called there and asked them?
Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Yeah, I got a reply from one of their volunteers saying that Gerson therapy was not successful in curing multiple myeloma. That's when i jumped into searching for other options. From a woman who was treated there I got a reply that out of 20 they managed to stop the spread of multiple myeloma for 5, but lost contact with them.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
In regards to changing the diet to more vegan, I am beginning to appreciate the newer nutritional research that I am finding that might benefit cancer patients. The stuff that I am avoiding and trying to get past is the fad stuff that isn't based on good science-- just a quick fix and loads of money to promoters.
Since contracting multiple myeloma I have been focusing on a good diet and plenty of walking to keep up the hemoglobin in my blood. I am on a dex/rev maintenance to currently keep my kappa light chains at a reduced level after being in remission for 2 years. Coincidentally, just after going through stem cell collection for future use, I came out of remission and started trying out curcumin therapy similar to the small Aggarwal study and did see good results in 2 months. Can nutrition ever replace drug therapy for multiple myeloma patients ?
I'm not a medical doctor, but I consider myself a decent critical thinking person especially having the vested interest posed by this disease.
OK so multiple myeloma is a blood cancer which is why diet and metabolism are key areas of concern. We know that the basic trait that cancer drugs such as dex has is to lower inflammation , attack the cancers environment, and cause death in the cancer cell. Some drugs are better than others.
Appears that curcumin, olive oil (and others) is one way to lower intestinal and stomach inflammation and perhaps other areas of the body.
What is particular interesting and not being noticed much by cancer research are some of the findings for prevention and treatment of Diabetes. Researchers have gone way past the glucose/insulin connection to looking at the role of a diabetes flawed metabolism in affecting the internal organs. And it all starts with what is going into the blood based on different diets good or bad. In fact, one aim here appears to reduce organ damage by eliminating toxins and lowering inflammation-- a lot of focus on advanced glycation end products (AGEs) as one indication of accumulating toxins leading to potential organ damage. Interesting how the way glucose binds to browned or blackened foods to create this dangerous carcinogen toxin when grilling or roasting-- even includes roasted coffee beans and baked cookies. New research is now looking how this might be affecting those of us that dont have diabetes--hence the attention on antioxidants to rid ourselves of these accumulating toxins that have such long half-lives.
One of the benefits of heading towards a more alkaline diet ( more vegan) is that tends to lower (again) inflammation at the metabolic level. But perhaps another focus might be to really look at the role of antioxidants that fight the so called free radicals and more that damage our organs.
Glutithione came to my attention the other day and I researched it. Interesting gluthithione can only be produced in the body, taking supplements is not effective. However to get your body to produce increasing levels of this extremely effective antioxidant, you must intake the foods that stimulate the production. Special forms of organic whey and the sulfur containing green vegetables, highest quality of vitamin C, E, B6, B12, milk thistle, and selenium are recommended by some if you want to go this route. Aging severely limits production and exercise stimulates Gluthithione production.
I also looked at vitamin K as an important regulator how calcium is deposited in arteries (not good, artheriosclerosis) and the bone. Check out google. Some very important recent findings (more than I mentioned here) to benefit cancer patients.
What has all of this done to my diet ? I'm not trying to be a vegetarian, just eat more of the good vegetables and I now include a hefty dose of a green superfood powder that gives me the micronutrients and stuff to raise my stomach alkalinity some. I will begin adding the organic raw milk whey to my diet since I like to raise my gluthithione levels as high as possible. I still drink 2 cups of coffee, but now remove the crust from bread and try not to eat many baked goods that are darker brown. I plan to steam vegetables versus much grilling or browning. And do more slow cooking or pressure cooking of meat and chicken where I can.
Found that eggs are healthier that previously research showed, so I now raise my own chickens for just eggs since the inclusion of new pets prevents going for the meat.
Also, many doctors who used to say not necessary to take a good multivitamin, well new studies say that you should and I am. Also take bone stuff like calcium/vitamin D, magnesium, boron, silica, vitamin k, and of course the curcumin with the olive oil. Considering taking a good flaxseed or fish oil capsules....just getting maxed out of pills.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Went to a new oncologist yesterday. Saw my blood work.
My anemia is better. I had been at a level of 8 for over a year. Went to below 7 and had a blood transfussion two weeks ago. My level is almost 10 now, so thrilled with that. My blood cell numbers are higher.
However, with starting this new diet I came in late and the cancer is just too much for my body to handle and my kidneys are worse.
Soooo, up against a wall I am doing high dose prednisone this week, tried the Meth. and hated it. I have agreed to do 10 mg of Revelimid a day for 3 weeks and see what it does. Waiting for the insurance approval and should be starting next week on it with the prednisone.
So the natural care seems to have really improved my immune system and health but it is not killing the cancer at least fast enough, I have a lot.
I am taking micro nutrients in a rice bran base, Glutathene antioxidant, a supplement with molecules that are to strengthen cells (however it is not cell smart, so helps all cells, including the cancer), an ultra pure water. and turmeric.
No sugar, dairy, meat, eggs, and definetly NO sugar. All plant based foods.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Hi Dee 777...that's great that your hemoglobin numbers have come up now. Hopefully that would make you feel better too, with more energy. Anemia really does tire one! And I hope that the treatments with Revlimid/prednisone work really well for you too. Try to keep us posted, OK?
