Thank you for your help. I live on the west coast and Dad is on the east coast. The pharmacy that provided Revlimid is in PA. I'm not sure which Attorney General I should contact. Also, don't know what all those other abbreviateions you used mean.
I heard from Dad's attorney this morning and was told that I cannot accept the Revlimid because it poses problems to pregnant women. I am 65 and have no children and no yourng friends so this will not be a problem.
Thanks. Olive

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
My Mom paid $277/ month, for quite a while until she finally found out about the Chronic Disease Fund, as well. Now it is only $5 per month! Super easy to do and very nice people to work with!!!

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
I definitely agree that Revlimid has provided a "bright side" for many with Multiple Myeloma. And it is PRICELESS. However if you can't afford the drug, or if what you can pay disrupts and changes your financial life expectancy, it becomes a QOL question that simply cannot be afforded. Priceless, for those who can afford and for those who cannot; just totally different outcomes.

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
I am lucky, I only have a $40 copay for a month's supply of 25 mg/day.
I would just ignore Celgene. What are they going to do? They just want to cover their butts on the miniscule chance that someone inapprpriate gets in contact with it. I guess that if you were not able to find a person who could use it, I would find out what the real shelf life was and make sure it was kept secured, then destroyed when it expired.
Can I ask what the dosage was and for how long of a supply the $8000 was?

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
Thank you everyone for your help. I wish every one of you the best. I will continue to fight and continue to keep you posted.
I paid $8,000 for one month. It was sent to Dad's assisted living center instead of to me and I cannot take control of it. Dad took it for only a few days before his doctor decided to stop it. He's on east coast and I'm on west coast but I will be going back there in a week so I may have more success if we are face-to-face.
There is a lesson here. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have a drug sent to someone else unless you trust that person/agency/organization. Keep control, always keep control.
Thank you again and God bless all of you.

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
For those of you that have good medical coverage,ie Loss or no copayments for Revlimid, what is it. I have Healthnet Senior that I thought was very good but since they consider this a specialty drug the co-payment for 21 days at 25 mg is $1350.
Help, and suggestions.

Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
There is help out there. After my insurance & COBRA ran out & I couldnt get insurance because of pre existing conditions I turned to VA because I was eligible. While I was waiting to be accepted in VA I contacted Celgene & was able to get a 28 day supply for 100$ copay. I guess they base the copay on your assests & income. I'm on SS Disability so that helped. After being accepted by VA my VA doctor went to bat for me & got VA to pay 100% of the Revlimid. I hear that the Chronic Disease Fund is another place you can get help. Mine is a good ending so keep looking there is help out there.
Re: The cost of Revlimid - what do you pay?
I live in Australia. I have been taking 10mg caps for 2 yrs now. The cost? $35.40 for 28. (I immigrated to Australia in 1976 around the time when socialised medicine was just coming in. In those days, all prescriptions cost you only $2. Now you pay $35.40.) If I were getting Australian Social Security (that includes welfare as well as old-age pension, disability, etc), then I would be charged only $5 for any prescription including Revlimid. The Australian government negotiates with the drug companies to obtain the lowest price. Although this price will usually be much greater than what patients pay, under our Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the govt picks up most of the cost. This is all paid for by our federal taxes. Most of us would not want to lose this social benefit.
