Pat Killingsworth
Please say a prayer for Pat Killingsworth. Pat has been a long time contributor to the Beacon and his columns have been very informative to multiple myeloma patients. Pat is struggling for his life in intensive care back in Florida. He has thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura (TTP), a very rare blood disorder. Pat had recently completed a grueling double autologous stem cell transplant and had begun consolidation treatment. Following the second transplant, he has battled C. diff and other problems before this latest issue surfaced. He needs all of the good vibes we can send his way!

Re: Pat Killingsworth
I noticed Pat's latest post on his latest column was worrisome. Thank you for this update. Hoping he is part of the 90% that does get through this (according to Wikipedia). I have followed Pat since my husband was diagnosed May 2015.
I have been and will be thinking of Pat and his wife. Please keep updates coming.

Re: Pat Killingsworth
I don't know where I would be without all the educational information written by Pat and his sharing of his personal journey. Hoping and praying that this is just another setback that he will overcome, as he has time and again.
He is a remarkably generous person – we are praying for him and his wife.

Re: Pat Killingsworth
My husband and I are praying for Pat's recovery too. He has been through an awful lot with medical problems, especially over the last year. He has been a friend to me, even though we have never met in person. I started reading his column when I joined my support group, SAMPS, back in 2010 I think. My first posting to the Beacon was to his column and he was very kind and eventually said that my posts were so long that I should write a column too. I was very hesitant to drop my user name 'Nancy S' and use my full name. He just scoffed and said that in this day and age of social media, what did I have to worry about? (I am a worry wart, actually.) So from his encouragement and also the same from Boris Simkovich, founder and editor of the Beacon, I did attempt my first column back in January 2012.
Since then we have been in touch and one thing I can say about Pat is his overwhelming urge to help other myeloma patients, right from the level of MGUS to having severe complications of the disease. Thanks Pat for all you have done to help all of us!! So hoping for your return to health.

Re: Pat Killingsworth
How sad! Just when he was wondering if he could "dare dreaming". Pat is the bravest person on earth. When my doctor recently suggested that I should have another transplant during my second remission, I thought about him and envied his courage, which I presently do not have. And then you see, this happens ... You never know what is better to do with this darn disease.
I hope Pat overcomes the crisis and recovers, I really do.

Re: Pat Killingsworth
I second everything that has been said here. Pat is a very selfless individual who helps everyone affected by myeloma: patients, caregivers, families, from a scared MGUS patient, to one with full-blown multiple myeloma with many complications. He's also an excellent researcher and writer in the multiple myeloma field. A unique and caring individual, with an extremely funny sense of humor.
Let's all pray for his recovery. He has a very strong will, and I am hoping that it will serve him well in this latest setback.

Re: Pat Killingsworth
I don't pray, but I can certainly extend my wishes to Pat for a speedy recovery from TTP.
