Wishing all readers – Canadian, American, and international – a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I love this holiday since it focuses on gratitude for our blessings at this harvest time. We have two inches (5 cm) of snow on the ground here, and it is still coming down! But the warm wishes about the holiday cancel out the cold temperatures outdoors.

Thanks, Nancy

I'm enjoying my Thanksgiving Day here in Vancouver. We don’t have snow, not even in the local mountains. Mountain snows come later.

Giving thanks,

Joe

I think that Thanksgiving is a North American holiday, ours in October, and in the US, in November. That relates to when the harvest is done, historically. I am not sure if there are other countries that celebrate Thanksgiving, but probably there are other festivals with the same meaning. We look forward to it every year and have a family get together!

I'm coming in late, but hope everyone had a great dinner this past weekend!

We had 2 of our 3 kids over on Sunday. It was nice to be able to reflect that I am still here to give back the love! Thanks to all of the team that are there for me when needed!

Good news for those in Canada who may find medical marijuana helpful - Shoppers Drug Mart formally applies to distribute medical marijuana.

"Shoppers Drug Mart formally applies to distribute medical marijuana; Pharmacy chain is asking for producer licence, but it plans on just distributing," CBC, Oct 25, 2016 (full text of article)

Excerpt:

"It gives pharmacists the opportunity to work directly in real time with patients as opposed to doing it through the mail, working on their doses and making sure it actually has the therapeutic effect that it is intended to have."

The flu shot is now available at public health clinics, drug stores, and hospitals for health care workers. I went in today with some family members aged 1 1/2 to 66, and we got flu shots and in one case a pneumococcal shot. The pneumococcal shot is available for those over aged 65 and also immunocompromised patients. The strains covered in this year's flu shot are 2 of 'A' (California and Hong Kong) and two of 'B' (Brisbane and Phuket). There is a stronger version available for seniors over aged 65.
