So, I went through the forum and could not see a general topic on natural or unconventional methods of dealing with multiple myeloma.
I am pretty sure some of you might have tried or at least got the info from zillions of Google searches and stories of patients with "c". I see that most of the people in the forum choose traditional treatment methods. Personally I am quite an opposite. And while my husband tends to listen to doctors more often, I've almost managed to keep the kids out of traditional medicine for a year now and it is just great. My older one is still not fully free from meds, but little one has never ever had to chew on pharmaceutical products ... well except maybe ibuprofen.
I know multiple myeloma is not a flu, but so many interviews and so many people witness a different approach towards healing that I am just wondering ... maybe there are different perspectives?

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Hi Noway,
I have chosen a different path to conventional treatment by visiting a German cancer clinic in December / January of this year and undergoing whole body and local hyperthermia treatment, with vitamin B and C infusions, mineral supplements, magnetic field therapy and more. Although this was used with 'low dose' chemo, the results so far are very encouraging, with blood tests being the best ever since I got diagnosed.
Best of luck,
Dave

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Thanks Dave,
We are on our path getting info on all possible alternative therapies. From what I managed to gather so far, conventional therapies alone do not work very well and in fact can be damaging most of the time, rather than helping. I am sure we will use alternative methods, but so hard to decide which ones - many people used so many of them and some help, some don't.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Good on you Noway,
We are thinking along the same path.
Consider these supplements as they have demonstrated anti cancer properties: I take all of them and more.
Curcumin - Metagenics Inflavonoid Intensive Care. Very good for myeloma.
Resveratrol - Metegenics Resveratrol Healthy Aging Complex
Mushroom supplements - BioCeuticals Mushroom 6
I've also just returned back to Australia from Germany where I had integrative oncology. That's where they use both conventional and complementary treatments for cancer, including 'full body hyperthermia'. I would love to give you the name of the German clinic but I'm not allowed to on this site.
There are many sheep on this site who are too brainwashed to consider such 'radical treatments, including natural supplements, but chemo treatment alone will not help in the long term. I've also read that 80% of cancer patients will die from their cancer treatment before their cancer gets them.
I've noticed one or two writers on this site who in my opinion seem to be affiliated with the Beacon who push drugs, conventional and conservative treatment, and who are above anything else, closed minded.
All I ever hear on this site is clinical trials (human experimentation), but how many of these trial outcomes are never published due to their failure / detrimental results? Read Ty Bollinger, Cancer Step Outside The Box. A must read for anyone with cancer.
Take care,
Dave

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Dave,
Thank you so much. I am so glad we found at least one person thinking along similar lines as we do. It is just a start for us, and I know how crucial it is to get determined and choose a way of fighting this monster. My husband is strongheaded and does not yet accept the fact that it is actually cancer. He is down with his spirits and truly is feeling horrible, so I am trying to do first fight for him. I am pretty sure you have searched Gerson and Gonzalez therapies. I also went to Ayurvedic research forums and found some good info there.
Make sure you get plenty of B12 alongside with spirulina / chlorella. Not sure you are doing detox - but I have ordered the supplies and we will get on this as well.
Oh I wish we were in Europe to go to Germany ... Murphy's Law, we relocated to Canada only 5 months ago, and got totally washed away with such news. So we are trying to grasp on any straw that is handed out to us.
If you need to reach me with names, you can always write a personal message. I will do the same. Hope there will be more people who are willing to search for alternatives.
Thank you!

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
I am doing alternative therapy. I am not taking chemo, no bone marrow transplant, or radiation. There is a lot of info on the web and you would be surprised how many MD's will help with building up the immune system to help your body to heal from cancer.
I have also found an oncologist that is on board who I have an upcoming consultation appointment with to help in monitoring the cancer and is willing to hold off prescribing the FDA approved treatments for cancer which is only surgery, chemo, and radiation.
We do not have much health freedom in this country, so you have to do it yourself if you want to do alternative therapy. It is good to have an oncologist to monitor and/or a MD to monitor your health as you do it.
I am eating only a vegan diet. No sugar. Eating every couple hours so not to cause inflammation from hunger. Juicing with organic carrots and apples. Taking major micro nutrients to feed the immune system.
Just being vegan isn't the answer. Must be no sugar. No meat proteins, eggs, dairy. It is making the blood alkaline. Cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment. Our cancer body tends to be acidic. No coffee, can drink organic teas. Lots of raw fresh organic vegetables. Exercising some everyday to help with inflammation. But you do need a MD to draw blood and keep an eye on the numbers as you go.
Working for me so far.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Hi Dee,
I was one of the people concerned with your previous, recent postings where you said you had a dangerously low hemoglobin of 7.7 and a high plasma cell infiltration of 56%. You also mentioned urgent renal issues and the prospect of transfusions. I posted three or four posts addressing you because I was concerned about your health, as I myself had a rapid progression of myeloma which almost killed me.
Have these urgent issues been resolved? Also, myeloma IS a cancer of the immune system, so simply saying you are going to boost your malfunctioning system is not a serious approach, especially given your dangerously low anemia. I cannot imagine any reasonable person advising you to pursue an alternative treatment approach given your current situation. I think you are tempting fate and I hope you reconsider your situation.

Those issues have been resolved
The body is able to heal. Chemo, radiation, surgery does not cure. A lot of people die from the side effects of chemo, and radiation destroying the organs. The cancer always come back and the body is destroyed and can not fight it so it comes back stronger.
The actual survival rate, exceeding the 5 years, exceeding death from the side effects of conventional medicine and dying of natural causes is 2%. If the death certificates told the truth, it would not be death from cancer, but death from the side effects of chemo, radiation poisoning, so forth.
25% of cancer patients have had their cancer go in remission on their own. There body was able to correct it. So that tells me the conventional meds are killing those patients.
The numbers are higher with alternative therapies, not 100%, no one will deny it, but very much higher cure, not just extending the life, rates.
I am under doctor's supervision, and will soon have an oncologist on board advising also. The amount of people looking for a better answer than the the conventional methods are high and there are a lot of doctors that are tired giving out the chemo and knowing they don't cure and watching patients die. What a horrible job.
I have done a lot of research on this and made my decision not lightly. I want to try for a cure, not just a couple more years.

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Hi Dee
What a breath of fresh air you are! We're on the same page as I too am in search of a cure, that I KNOW will not come from conventional medicine. Conventional medicine only knows how to cut, burn and poison, but the human body deserves so much more than that.
The body can heal itself, given the right climate to do so. Whole, organic, nutritious food and supplements together with a healthy lifestyle (mind AND body) is the only long term answer. You're right about the stats from chemo etc.. It's a path I won't take because it will lead me no where, the same as it has for so many others, for so long.
Have you seen the DVD 'Cancer is Curable Now'? Well worth a look at.
Take care,
Dave

Re: Unconventional methods treating multiple myeloma
Just to play 'devil's advocate' here .... if you were to take chemotherapy and treatments specifically developed to treat myeloma patients, and then went into a remission, wouldn't that be worthwhile to you folks on this thread? You can still live in a very healthy fashion. Actually most of us patients do try to look after our health as best as possible, with good diet, rest and exercise.
Please don't be offended by what I have to say. I just would like to tell you what has worked for me over the last 3 1/2 years. Of course I realize that this remission may not last, but I would not have survived even this long without modern medicine.
I do respect your decisions of course, this is just food for thought.
