Thanks Rick. Glad your husband is on smoother sailing these days. Can't wait to get there myself.
It's really hard as a physician to be a patient!

Re: Zometa side effects: are they really that bad?
Perhaps the grass is always greener, but it seems doubly tough to be a patient without the knowledge of a physician!

Re: Zometa side effects: are they really that bad?
I just naively went the day before Thanksgiving to get my first infusion of Zometa. I went home to a houseful of people, where I have one redeeming quality, cooking! That night began the worst experience of "flu-like" symptoms I have ever experienced. The vomiting and bone & joint pain was excruciating. I had no heads up from my doctor.
I will NEVER let them give me this evil drug again. For me, the drug is worse than the disease. Never again.

Hi Wendy,
I'm sorry your first experience with Zometa was awful. I had my first infusion this past July. I was sick for the first 48 hours afterwards and then had uncontrollable chills and felt very run down for the day and night. I also developed pink eye 2 days after that. The good news is when I had my second infusion in October I had no side effects at all. My nurse said they ran the drip slower than before because that is supposed to lessen the side effects.

Re: Zometa side effects: are they really that bad?
I have been taking Zometa for a few years, every other month. Side effects for me are negligible. Maybe very mild flu symptoms for a day or so, but not an issue.
For awhile, I was taking Zometa monthly as well as monthly IVIG. The two of them together had mild flu symptoms and minor lower back ache. Again, not a big deal thankfully.
Good luck

I’ve had two Zometa infusions, first when I began Velcade, and another 6 weeks later, and experienced no problems.
