Re: Weekly Poll - Phase Of Treatment

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in April 2011 after a routine blood test revealed high calcium and creatinine levels. After many tests, scans and xrays, bone marrow biopsy confirmed the diagnosis I had no bone involvement but was in Stage 4 kidney failure.. (Of interest, my children's father to whom I was married for 14 years died from multiple myeloma in March 2009.} I had no symptoms. I was working full time and felt fine. I am 68 years old.

I started treatment with Velcade and Dex which was discontinued after 3 cycles because of severe neuropathy. I tried Revlimid next and that was discontinued because I developed a blood clot in my left calf. I have been off chemo since Nov 2011. I have been approved for Kyprolis and probably will begin treatment within the next 4 weeks. I am anxious about this new treatment but am going forward. The neuropathy has not improved. Anxiety and depression prevail (i really could use a brain transplant)

My best wishes to everyone involved with this disease. It is a challenge.
