I missed the cut-off date to vote, but it's been 14 years for me.

That is great. What stage were you first diagnosed, did you have SCT and are you on a maintenance drug?

Missed doing this poll but my partner was first diagnosed in 2001. So 11 years ago.

I was at stage3, had an ASCT 8-10 months later. I'm currently taking pomalidomide as it has (had)returned. My latest light chain results indicate that they are now back into the normal range (after 2 years!)

Re: Weekly Poll - How Long Since Your Myeloma Diagnosis? - 2
I have only just come across the Beacon but would like to advise that I was diagnosed in July-August 1991 when I was 44.
In 1991 I commenced a 12 month treatment of chemo which seemed to work as I had a number of years free from any treatment.
After two stem cell harvests (the high dose chemo with the first one stopped the progression of my paraprotein levels for some time) I received a transplant in late 2007.
Since October 2011 I have been on continuous treatment. Until this time I lived almost as though I did not have multiple myeloma.
I have always tried to be positive especially in the harder times which I believe has helped me through. Over the years I have met some wonderful and interesting people. Naturally because I could not be offered a cure I looked outside the box - there are some weird and wonderful ideas out there!!
I hope my comments can give someone hope that multiple myeloma is not as dire as some would believe. With the new and focussed treatments that are available there is every chance that you too will have a wonderful and interesting journey.

Diagnosed in July 2013. They discovered a large benign tumor on my left kidney at the same time, so I had to have kidney and tumor removed. Then some repairs on right kidney. Then recuperate to sone degree. Then started multiple myeloma treatment Jan. 2, 2014. Dex & Velcade. My M-spike is down from 4.1 to 2.6.

I must have missed the deadline to vote, too.
I was diagnosed in late November 2014, less than 3 months ago.
