Weekly Poll – Current Type Of Myeloma - 2013

This week’s poll follows up on the poll from two weeks ago. This one is about the types of myeloma and myeloma-related diseases Beacon readers currently have, as compared to what they were originally diagnosed with.

A few clarifications:

First, this question is open to readers with any myeloma-related disease.

Second, if you are a caregiver or family member of someone with a myeloma-related disease, feel free to answer on their behalf.

Third, some of you may have originally been diagnosed with MGUS or smoldering myeloma and have since progressed. Others of you may have been first diagnosed with multiple myeloma (sometimes called symptomatic myeloma or active myeloma). Please vote for whichever disease you currently have. If you were diagnosed with multiple myeloma and are currently in remission, please vote for multiple myeloma.

If you select "Other", please post a comment below to let us know what type of myeloma-related disease you currently have.

As always, feel free to post additional thoughts, feedback, or comments in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.

I posted "other". I am not sure what kind of Myeloma I have? I had symptomatic multiple myeloma at diagnosis (stage 2, with Hyperviscocity issue and other weird symptoms)

I am now in Stringent CR after my Auto transplant summer 2010.

So it is like I do not have multiple myeloma at the moment? Still getting monthly bloodwork, and waiting for the other shoe to drop, so maybe not really...

I also posted 'other', since am in a remission...myeloma is 'inactive' now.

Sorry for any confusion that may be occurring about the vote options for this week's poll question.

To clear things up, we've added the following text in the note accompanying the poll question:

"If you were diagnosed with multiple myeloma and are currently in remission, please vote for multiple myeloma."
