I have come across Dr CA Wheatley's hypothesis paper which states that the fundamental cause of MGUS and multiple myeloma is a chronic deficiency of vitamin B12. I've searched the Beacon for articles pertaining to the topic but couldn't find any comment on it. Could someone please refer me to a link if I've missed it?
Here is the article:

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
Hello,
I had tests that showed I had low vitamin B12 in May (I have 182, but the standard is 300-550 pmol / L). The doctor gave me vitamin B12, which I take for about 3 months, but it has not changed my gamma M-spike, which continues to rise.
Also, I was in MGUS, and I'm still MGUS according to a doctor (the one who gave me food supplements), but I'm smoldering myeloma according to my hematologist.
More time may be needed to rebalance the body, and catch up deficits.
Sincerely yours

Note That C.A. Wheatley is Dr. Carmen Wheatley.
One might want to google on her name as one investigates her works on the subject of cancer.
Note Dr. Libby's comments here:
"Vitamin B12 deficiency - high methylmalonic acid (MMA)," Beacon forum discussion started Oct 16, 2013.
And you might find this retrospective study to be useful:

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
Hello Spanish Mary,
I took a tablet of 250 mg daily, during one month (fourth of the dose recommended by Dr. Wheatley ), and after the month, I took one tablet per week.
Indeed, the doses I took are low!
Thanks to Multibilly for the links.

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
Thank you both. I googled Carmen Wheatley and ended on the website canceraction.org.gg where there was information on a proposed trial in the UK to test vitamin B12 supplementation. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a date, so no idea if it took place, whether results are available, or whether it is still to happen. I shall continue reading

Hi Jaqueline, I meant to ask why your hematologist classified you as smoldering?

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
I cannot answer .
I consulted a doctor who told me I was in MGUS, and gave me supplements to try to stop the rise of M-spike. And I see a hematologist at the hospital, who does not give me any treatment, but who makes me do an MRI. And in the report he wrote "stage 1."
When I asked him why, I did not understand his answer.
But it is true that I have back pain all the time, but not at night. May be due to stress.

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
Hi Jacqueline, if you were classified as Stage 1, you may have symptomatic myeloma. Did the MRI show lytic or focal lesions? You may want to speak to the hematologist again so he can fully explain his diagnosis of your condition and whether treatment is warranted. Good luck.

Re: Vitamin B12, MGUS, and myeloma
Hello Jacqueline,
It may be that your hematologist is using the older Durie-Salmon staging system. The system still seems to be used in parts of Europe. If that's the case, then you could be classified as "stage 1a" and have smoldering myeloma. See this forum discussion for a similar situation that came up:
