This is a very interesting discussion. I've had MGUS since 2005, discovered in a quest to diagnose anemia, and megaloblastic RBCs. In addition, he discovered my very low level of B12, and said that it should be resolved, as low B12 will skew M-spike numbers.
My B12 level 6 months ago was 50, rather than between 250 and 900. After 5 months of weekly injections, it is now 400! Yay B12 injections!
Mayo Clinic and LabTestsOnline state that taking metformin (Type II diabetes prescription treatment, WIDELY prescribed in the U.S.) is known to cause B12 malabsorption. I've been on it for 15 years. My primary care doctor had not heard of this causation, nor had my current oncologist. My point of view is currently that my B12 trouble is caused by meds., the possibility that low B12 could be connected to MGUS is staggering!
Peace and light.
