Re: To those who have had bmb's

I agree with Ted E. I've had 8 BMB's over the past 5 years without lingering or reoccurring pain except for one time. I did have pain after my 6th, which after much discussion with my doctor and finally an MRI, it was determined that I had a 1 3/4” x 5/8” lesion in my iliac that extended into my sacroiliac. Sort of like having a broken hip. So, it is extremely important that you communicate any pain you are experiencing with your doctor.

I had an extremely bad reaction to a BMB last week and am still very uncomfortable. The pathologist must have nicked the sciatic nerve. He also caused a HUGE hematoma at the site which kept pressure on the nerve. I was on IV pain killers and could not get out of a chair or walk for many days. It is now day 13 and I am still in pain. Cannot sit comfortably or lay down flat, must lay sideways keeping pressure off the injury site.

Dr says pain is normal so I will gladly transfer this normal pain to him!

I think that any one who performs BMB's should have one done to them first. They might be a little more understanding of what we have to go through during and after...

I get a little tired of the cavalier attitude at times. I have enough to deal with in living with this cancer. My goal is to reduce any unnecessary "irritants" and be my own advocate where ever I can...

I have had 5 BMB so far. First was by far the worst, must have been a new technician. First in 2010, I have had intermittant pain in the area of all BMB's especially after driving more than 1 hour. I have asked others and done a little research to find that it is not only possibly sciata pain but is the pain resulting from nerve impingment in the boring tool site. We are all wired differently and the nerve placement in our bones can vary.
Hope this helps.
