Re: Thank for your big hearts and extensive knowledge

Cindy, at this point my husband hasn't really wanted to consider having to go that far as he has felt until now they were doing pretty well. We are meeting with another doc in a few weeks and the stem cell department has been nothing but supportive so we will see next month.

Thanks for the specific articles Mark. It is good to have the opinions of those of you who have been battling on the front lines. My husband is not a researcher and would never get on here or go to a support group but those things are my forte so I appreciate very much the depth of knowledge so many of you have.

My best to you both.

This is certainly a highly challenging situation. I agree with the suggestion to get a second opinion and it appears you are seeing a myeloma specialist.

There is no clear standard approach in a situation like this and there are high risks associated with allo transplantation, so it is important that you and your husband understand the risks / benefits based on his age and availability of donor.

There may still be a role for an auto transplant, followed by innovative cellular therapy or innovative maintenance therapy, in this situation. Ultimately the best options may come from clinical trial.

All the best.
