I have early-stage disease. My M-protein is 1.38 g/dL (13.8 g/l), my kappa lambda ratio is elevated at 2.65, my globulin is now 3.7, above the 3.5 normal. A kappa free light chain has shown up in my urine, my creatinine is elevated.
From what I have read, I have only one factor of the 3 factors for high risk of progression; that is, my kappa-lambda ratio is high. My M-protein recently has begun moving up, from 1.0 to 1.38 g/dL.
Am I reading the material correct to say that over a 20-year period my risk of progression is 21%?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Risk of progression with early stage disease?
Hello Keith, and welcome to the forum.
Can you be more specific about what exactly your diagnosis is? You say that you have "early stage disease". Have you been diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma, or with MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance)?
From the risk of progression statistics you mention, it sounds like you may have been diagnosed with MGUS, but it's really important to distinguish between a diagnosis of MGUS, smoldering myeloma, or active (symptomatic) multiple myeloma when discussing risk of progression and similar concepts.
If your diagnosis is MGUS, then I think you'll find this forum thread helpful:

Best wishes.

Re: Risk of progression with early stage disease?
Hi Keith,
Welcome to the forum.
I am guessing from your numbers that you mean you currently have an official diagnosis of MGUS (as opposed to smoldering myeloma)?
You may want to also review this thread to better understand how the risk-of-progression stats work:
