Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
It seems that there is a consensus among many doctors that 81 mg is adequate. That's good news.

The 81mg is not a problem with my stomach. I travel a lot, so when I take long drives I will take 2 or 3 81's. On a day-to-day basis, it appears one 81 is OK. Thanks all!

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
My oncologist put me on baby aspirin with Revlimid as a precaution against blood clots. I've been off of Revlimid (and all maintenance meds) for a year, but he still has me taking baby aspirin as a precaution. I usually take a Tums within an hour of taking the baby aspirin for minor heartburn, even though the aspirin is enteric coated.

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
There have been no head to head studies comparing the efficacy of the two different doses, but many of us believe 81 mg is sufficient.
For those at high risk of a blood clot (previous personal history of blood clot, family history, etc), more potent blood thinners are necessary (eg Lovenox, warfarin, Xarelto). The role of aspirin in the context of lenalidomide (Revlimid) maintenance therapy for those at low risk of clotting is murkier. The risk if a patient is taking just lenalidomide is less. The risk of a clot increases when steroids (especially high dose steroids) or anthracycline chemotherapy drugs [for example, doxorubicin (Adriamycin or Doxil)] are used with the lenalidomide.
FYI, my browser autocorrects Lovenox to Lovejoy. I think I like the latter name for the drug better!

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
Hi all,
Since starting induction treatment in April 2013 my platelets have been averaging 260. I am stating this as I have just checked "thin blood" on the net.
I was concerned about blood clots and asked my onc if I should take 81 mg aspirin and he said he had no objections. Then after some time I cut myself while chopping something and it was negligible or so I thought. I started bleeding like a son of a gun and was still bleeding 3 days later when I took the super heavy band-aid off.
So I reduced it to every other day and sometimes less when I forgot. Low and behold, I barely cut myself again, same story. So I stopped taking it for a few months.
Then the P.A. said, I should go back to Zometa and aspirin and 'sometimes complying me' did it. Four days later I developed a purpura type rash (horrible), it looks similar to vasculitis. It's
now 3 1/2 months and I still have scars on my legs. They never diagnosed 'it'. It could be this and that when I did my own research. I refused to go back on aspirin when the P.A. brought it up again. I'm just wondering what would happen/have happened if I would have been severely injured, or had a surgery under these conditions?

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
I have also been prescribed the 325 mg dose of aspirin with my 25mg of Revlimid. I am quite concerned about what all these drugs will do to my gut. I guess I will find out soon enough. Just started treatment today! The also wanted me to take ondansetron (Zofran) for the first week at least (for nausea).

I'm so glad this discussion is here! Newly diagnosed. I will be starting RVD in two days and have been told I'll be on Revlimid 25 mg, but no mention at all about blood clots as side effect nor anything about prevention.
One more question to add to my list, thank you!

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
I was taking Revlimid and one baby aspirin (81 mg). NO other drugs for maintenance, and I developed a DVT (deep vein thrombosis). They immediately put me on Coumadin (warfarin). I no longer take any drugs.

Re: Revlimid and daily 325 mg aspirin?
I would like to hear more on why 81 mg vs 325 mg.
For me, all pain killers cause constipation, so I'd like to reduce this dosage, but 325 mg is the standard where I am being treated.
