PVX-410 vaccine trial for smoldering myeloma begins

by Multibilly on Fri Feb 01, 2013 7:40 pm

Seems pretty newsworthy to me. Wouldn't that be the cat's meow if this works?

It would be earth shattering and would probably be applicable to all stages of myeloma. Are you going to contact them for enrollment possible enrollment?

That is interesting research isn't it, involving a synthetic version of an antibody, that would bind with the antigens on the surface of the myeloma cells, and thus somehow destroy the myeloma cell (I guess in this case the smoldering myeloma cell). Just last week in the 'News Flashes' on the Home page here, there was a report about a synthetic version of heparin being used to fight myeloma (SST0001). Synthetic versions of naturally occurring molecules sound like they could have a lot of potential!

I see that the information on the PVX-410 is written up today in 'News Flashes' and more information given too, about the clinical trial.

It sounds wonderful. I waited since June 2011 for the vaccine to go to trial only to find out after by blood work for HLA-A2 antigen that i was ineligible since I do not have it. Happy for all those that do and hope when they get to Phase 2 they will take those of us without the antigen.

What makes you say that? It's in early trial phase.

There are people that get on here -- many times anonymously -- that just like to take shots ... make it worse or simply be negative. We do not know if this will work or not. It is in trial. But I damn well hope it does!

Would be interesting to see if it provides maintenance benefits for treated myeloma patients. It is all a continuum. And of course in this latter context would it attack the presumed multiple myeloma cells to truly get at the apparent cellular source source of relapse?

Hi, are there any news about the PVX-410 trial? OncoPep just raised some money and is now a Beacon sponsor. Thx for an update! Tom
