Hello,
I think it's the caregiver-nurturing side in women just being supportive of their family member with a serious illness -- most of whom are men.
Like Lyn, I post periodically and my husband never does. In fact, he doesn't read the Beacon, but I usually do 2-3 nights a week. If I see something that I think he would like to know, I'll give him a quick update. We both know there's an elephant in the room whose presence will need to be dealt with head-on some day, but right now I like to let him have as normal a daily life as possible. He already has to deal with the physical consequences of multiple myeloma.
Best wishes to everyone fighting this disease, and to all the spouses/significant others/caregivers going through it too ...

Re: More wives & daughters, less husbands & sons
I am a wife/caretaker and I honestly want my husband to focus on getting well and not be bothered with researching. Everything he researched gave him a death sentence. From there, I told him that I would be the deciphering eyes/ears for multiple myeloma. He walks in faith now and does not claim illness. We view it as going through the motions. I pray that my husband lives a great life and that this is just "one of the things" that we deal with in life.
He was viewed as high risk - did 5 cycles, had a stem cell transplant, and has had a complete response (CR). I am good with that and he is too.
My goal in logging in is to still be informed from the others and to definitely provide support and comfort to those going through as well.
Wishing you all the best and lots of hope and faith to make it through this. This too shall pass.

Re: More wives & daughters, less husbands & sons
I am the one with myeloma and I research obsessively also. I can't get my husband interested in this site or any researching. He takes care of me and is concerned, but that is it. I don't believe he would research for himself either but just trust the doctor to make all decisions. You can bet I would be researching for him too.
