Anyone else have problems with excessive sweating?
I am 51 and hot flashes have been a part of my life for 2 years now. But things have gotten way worse then the flashes. I sweat so much that my hair is soaked and sweat drips off my nose.
This has been so troublesome for me and my quality of life. Physically and emotionally. I have been blessed to be able to work one day a week as a nurse, but I am so embarrassed about my wet hair and don't want to drip on them. This happens without much exertion at work, home, or sitting in the pew at church.
Any ideas?
I have been on Revlimid for a year.

My doctor just prescribed Effexor for hot flashes. I have only been on it for 5 days so don't know yet if it will help but am optimistic!

Re: Anyone else sweating excessively?
Yep.
Fluid retention. Third Spacing. Loop of Henle stuff...
Part of mine is due to Prednisone/Prednisolone. RX for Burst dose -- (25 mgs down to 4 mgs --over 7 days) in Feb due to respiratory infection, along with antibiotics.
Looooong half-life that Prednisone stuff. Up to 6 months, some say..
I put myself on Furosomide ( low dose). It helps some -- but I'm still fluid filled.
No temp, mind you, just often I have "the sweats". Mostly head & neck -- some chest. Stomach is distended, too.
It's like I stepped out of the shower, ten minutes ago ... most of the day.
The Steroid keeps the Sodium, dumps the Potassium, .... and Revlimid is hard on potassium--already.
Loop of Henle gets messed up, ... and the body keeps fluid ... and sweats. Best I can figure.
I am at my desk, shirt open 3 buttons, typing, and sweating with the A/C on ... Sheesh!
I bought new pillows last weekend. Every a.m., mine are soaked.
Good luck.

Thanks. Making a lot of sense. My albumin level is dropping and creatinine has gone up some. Hmm.

Re: Anyone else sweating excessively?
My husband is on Revlimid / dex and he sweats profusely, especially at night.
Re: Anyone else sweating excessively?
I have always sweat easily, but lately it's been constant -- winter and summer -- dripping wet, hair soaked. I hadn't connected it with the Revlimid, but that makes perfect sense.

Yes! I would just be sitting and all of a sudden, I would just start sweating from my head and face. I just started wearing a towel around my neck, to catch all the sweat. My nephew gave me a great line to say when this happened to me -- I would just say "I'm glistening".

Re: Anyone else sweating excessively?
Since going back on Revlimid, I have become a sweater - I mean turn-the-faucet-on sweater. With very little exertion, I'll sweat from head to waist. Luckily no body odor, for loss of a better word. I've sort of accepted the situation, but I wasn't going in public much.
My wife discovered wicking shirts and gym shorts. I found that navy blue hides the problem the best -- they wick the sweat and it evaporates rather quickly. I use the shorts as well, as the sweating gets those wet as well. Some brands are better than others.
Hope this helps. It has me out in the public again.
