Re: Biking with multiple myeloma
I would like to add that it did in fact rain in the afternoon. However, it was light and although we got wet, it did not have an impact on our speed. We both brought multiple changes of bike clothing in anticipation of the rain. Since we were alternating laps we had about an hour or so to change, get some food and drink, and relax our muscles before we had to go again.

Re: Biking with multiple myeloma
Ron, I am sure that you have encouraged lots of people to start pedalling! When I was first diagnosed, I knew two friends who were already competitive cyclists, but who were both battling with prostate cancer. I see them only occasionally but their encouragement to me, personally, and in the sense of seeing how they were coping with their cancers, by exercising as much as possible, was helpful. It's always interesting to read about your cycling. (I think I just typed a run-on sentence!)

Nancy, no worries about the run on sentence. I originally posted my update late last night after having a Velcade and dex treatment. It was a good 7 hours after I took the dex. I found myelf making multiple typing errors that the Beacon Staff was kind enough to edit for me.

Hats off to the Beacon Staff, who do a lot of editing for us all! They keep the whole site running smoothly, I know that from personal experience too! I guess if there were a place where one's issues with Dex were well understood, it would be here!

Ron,
Truly an impressive performance. Clearly, your recovery from surgery is complete. Keep banging away at the pedals.

Congrats, Ron. You are an inspiration to all, with and without myeloma! My husband was back on his bike on day 22 or 23 post ASCT. He hit day 30 today and is slowly working to build back his strength. Thanks for sharing.

Great to hear about your husband!! That is pretty amazing to be biking that soon after an ASCT.
May the wind be always at his back!!

Re: Biking with multiple myeloma
Great on on the cycling, Ron! That is what I love to hear!
I think if we focus on how we feel and not what is "supposed" to happen in recovery, we can write our own stories. We are all individuals.
I haven't been here much lately, but I did run a marathon (yes, 26.2 miles) on March 1 – 6 months and 10 days after my SCT.
