I am doing alternative therapies along with low dose Revlimid.
Is there a Naturopathic Doctor near you?
I eat an all vegan diet. No dairy, meat, eggs, nothing animal protein.
I have a very high dense nutritional supplement.
http://www.lifestar.com/Pages/genesiscomplex.html and
http://www.lifestar.com/Pages/glutathene.html every morning.
I also drink ultra pure water I had shipped in.
The vegan diet is great for detoxing while on treatment as the food goes thru the system really quick so you are not holding toxins in and the cancer cells that are dying are being pushed out many times during the day.
No sugar or any type of sugar as cancer feeds on cancer. This is hard and I do a lot cooking my own meals because everything at the store has sugar or some type of sugar in it. A lot of raw veggies. Great time to start visiting your local farmer market.
Exercise. Even if she can just take a walk is great. Stay positive. Watch funny movies or do fun things to boost the immune system.
The idea is this is the time to be as healthy as possible.
Other supplements I take are, Vit. D , Resveratrol, Turmeric, R-Lipoic Acid, Spirulina.
I've talked to the people at the Gerson Institute, you can get their number off their web site. They did not have good results working with multiple myeloma. They do the same treatments for all cancer and it does not work with multiple myeloma. They do more juicing. I have found with multiple myeloma you need protein so even eating vegan I do cook veggies along with raw and I eat organic rice, beans, nuts, and whole wheat pasta (small amounts of that) for protein. Stay away from white flour. I eat whole grains crackers. So far I have been doing alright with that.
Takes a lot of discipline to stick with it. No fruit juices because of sugar, starve the cancer is the motto. Just one or two fruits a day. Citrus fruits are cancer killers, apples, I eat the seeds in the apples.

This a great video on foods that kill multiple myeloma cells.

The cancer cells showed up because of what we did to our bodies! We have to get rid of the cause to get rid of the cancer or it is going to keep coming back. Be happy and healthy!

Dr Gonzalez only takes so many patients so he is hard to see. He is VERY EXPENSIVE. He has his multiple myeloma patients eat red met 2-3 times a week and detoxes with coffee enemas.
Trying to stay positive, but if I get in remission I will add small amounts of meat and dairy to my diet than. I farm and we have organic grass fed meats and dairy here. So if that is the plan buy only grass fed and organic! Right now while I have the cancer I am not putting them in my diet as cancer feeds on animal protein, it slows digestion which is not good for detoxing and I am not doing coffee enemas now, and cancer feeds on the mucous from dairy.
He also uses Pancreatic enzymes, his own formula. The idea pancreatic enzymes fight cancer and multiple myeloma patients need a boost.

If you are in treatment you may want to visit
http://www.burzynskiclinic.com/
He treats multiple myeloma patients using Antineoplastons. It is his patented formula. They are produced by our body to fight cancer so he believes cancer patients do not have enough and gives more.

Thanks Dee ! for all sort of valuable information. Reg the Other supplements you mentioned, like Vit. D, Resveratrol, Turmeric(Curcumin?), R-Lipoic Acid and Spirulina, do I have to consult doctor before starting these or these can be started straght away along with Dex/Rev? My doc was not looking very interested when I discussed these suppliments and said there are no proven studies about these suppliments.

What doses/types shall I consider for my Mom, please could you advise me about these in more details?

I take mine with the Revlimid. Of course there are no published studies, there is no money in that and you can not patent nutrition. You really need to find a Naturopathic doctor near you to help you get started.
I just started juicing a beet, carrot, and apple. Got them at our local Farmer's Market. Find a Farmer's market near you, you can find some great locally grown raw veggies there to juice and eat. Cucumbers are great for juicing. Get a juicer!
You can cook raw veggies up with a little olive oil and put them in organic brown rice, great healthy meal.
A Naturopathic doctor will help you with supplements.
One thing about eating healthy, can't hurt you, no toxins, so what can your doctor complain about that? A healthy body can destroy cancer cells better.

Please advise me the doses to be taken for and in what form (fruits etc or supplements):

Spirulina
Resveratrol
Curcumin/Turmeric

Soya Milk:
Could you also advise how benefitial a Soya Milk can be? Please note it is available flavored and with sugar in the market.

Sugar:
Should a multiple myeloma patient avoid sugar intake? if yes, what about natural sugar in fruits?

Fruits & Juices:
Which fruits/juices to consider, doc says avoid home made juices because of contamination. and also advised to take fruits only with thick outer side i.e. like banana, orange etc, no apples or grapes.

Please advise??

Your doctor is correct as far as juices but I use apples that are ORGANIC, than you don't have to worry. Otherwise, apples are heavily sprayed with pesticides.
I juice in the morning after a half hour of my very dense supplements, one beet, one organic carrot, one organic apple. It is not bad, a little rooty taste with the beet but not bad. Great juice with lots of good things in it. The advantage of juicing you get the vitamins and minerals and living enzymes to your cells quick! I have been using purple beets that are in season at our local Farmer's Market. It does turn the stool purple so don't panic! LOL!
I than juice a cucumber too. Peel and juice it and they are really good!
Yes, all sugar should be avoided. You will get some sugar from fruits so yes, don't eat a lot of fruits. Just the one apple in the juice, and I have been eating one orange or half a grapefruit. Citrus fruits actually have anti cancer activities. And that is all. I don't eat bananas because of the high sugar content of them.
Do not buy soy milk with added sugar and flavorings.
First you need to buy organic because about 99% of soy is genetically modified. There are soy milk with no sugar in it, I bought a case from Costco that is organic too.
No butter or any dairy. Earth Balance is a good substitute for butter.
I do use a little Olive Oil for cooking in too.
A dietician would be great on healthy vegan cooking if you can find one, they can give you recipes too or you can look on line.
I've been away from sugar the last two months and I have no desire for sugar now. I don't miss it.
A health grocery store is great, they will have organic too.
Berries are great to eat too! Blue berries are fantastic!
Have you been able to find a naturopathic doctor near you to help with supplements and amounts? I don't want to tell you what I am taking as it might not be right for your situation.
I do take quite a bit of Curcumin as it a multiple myeloma cell killer and it helps with inflammation from the cancer. Just a lot of good things with it. Have you asked your doctor about Vit. D? It is anti cancer and helps the bones. And don't forget about the organic green tea. I add cinnamon as it is anti cancer. NO SUGAR!
Hope that helps.

Don't forget about the water. At least get a really good filter for it. City water has added junk to it and well water can have pesticides in it. All I drink is water and tea. Drink lots of water for good health, most people don't drink enough.

Please find below the stats of my Mom's reports, can this be categorized under Smoldering multiple myeloma?

T. Protein (gm/dl): 10.30
Albumin (gm/dl): 4.06
Serum Protein Electrophoresis: "M" Spike 4.04g/ dl
CT Thorax: Lytic areas in multiple ribs, dorsal vertebrae and sternum,
IgG: 3812mg/dl -
IgA: 235mg/dl
IgM: 29mg/dl
Skeletal Survey: Multiple lytic lesion in multiple bones (only 1 is very prominant and causing pain - in 9th rib).
Beta 2 Microglobulin: 2708ug/L
24hrs urinary protein: Nil

Another problem, some allergy appeared on face after taking Lenalidomide for 9 continuous days (though I think allergy started after taking some stomach pain killer suggested by doc after 7th day of Linalidomide as she was having upper abdominal pain after drinking/eating anything), doc has now stopped Lenalidomide for 3 days, will try again..if problem persist he may move us to Velcade. Are these the side effects of Lenalidomide?
