Hello, my uncle was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma and was told that his type is extremely rare. I was just wondering how many, if any, people have this type and for how long? What is their course of treatment....etc.
Thanks

Re: anyone with agressive IgD lambda multiple myeloma?
Hi malz5779,
Several other people who have posted to the Beacon forums have indicated that they have IgD myeloma. Here are their stories:

https://myelomabeacon.org/forum/hello-i-am-new-here-is-my-story-t208.html?hilit=igd
https://myelomabeacon.org/forum/igd-non-secreting-multiple-myeloma-t128.html?hilit=igd
People with IgD myeloma tend to respond well to therapy, but unfortunately their survival tends to be somewhat shorter than people with more common myelomas. There are many new myeloma drugs in clinical trials, though, so treatment options for people with IgD myeloma should continue to increase.
Here's some more information about the prognosis of people with IgD and other rare myelomas:

Best wishes to your uncle!
