Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of antineoplaston therapy offered at Burzynski Clinic in Texas. He claims he cure cancer without chemotherapy. I first heard about it from another myeloma patient who went through this after conventional medicine had let him down a few years ago and his myeloma had relapsed. He says he is cured now. This antineoplaston is in phase III CLINICAL TRIALS. If u Google or utube it , a lot of information comes up.
Thanks.

Re: Antineoplaston therapy and cancer cure
Hello Nadia33,
There are no articles in the medical or scientific literature looking at the use of antineoplaston for multiple myeloma. Currently the National Cancer Institute lists 9 research studies looking at the use of this class of therapy in brain cancer (8/9 trials) and 1study for patients with recurrent and / or progressive optic pathway glioma ... a desperate disease with very few options. The other trials are all Phase II.
This class of therapy is a long way off from demonstrating clear benefit for any form of cancer and there is no data for myeloma.
All the best

Thank you so much for sharing your information. I really appreciate it. Please let us know if you know of anything other than the regular chemotherapy that has been affective. Also have you heard of turmeric effect on myeloma?
Thanks,
Nadia

Hi Nadia,
Turmeric is the main active ingredient in curcumin, and The Myeloma Beacon wrote an extensive article last year on the evidence that's available regarding curcumin and its potential use as a treatment for myeloma. You can find it here:

All the best,

Hello All,
I can understand why Dr. Libby posted the review on Antineoplaston. The information I've looked up states the same.
HOWEVER, when you are at the end of all "standard" care and government approved clinical trials (I'm not there yet.) But if I do ever get there I will be at Stanislaw Burzynski's a knocking at his door. You've got to fight this thing until there are no alternatives left and if you have a loved one at that point we would all do the same thing.
So when one therapy doesn't work, the very next question is, so what's next!?

Re: Antineoplaston therapy and cancer cure
Totally agree with you.... Hopefully conventional medicine keeps up with everyone's myeloma so no need for going through alternative methods which have not been proven to work. But when it all fails, u have to do what's available and according to one myeloma patient it saved his life

How can you possibly say something that is a patent untruth?
In four FDA-sponsored court trials at the Texas State level and at two Congressional Oversight Committee hearings, the full medical histories of over 200 cured cancer patients who underwent antineoplaston therapy were aired publicly (with the agreement of the patients or their guardians) and those patient histories and their full medical records were confirmed as true records by the FDA.
They included, among many others including adults, children between the ages of 6 months and 11 years old at diagnosis, with the *worst* kinds of brain cancer who had been given a prognosis of just *months* to live - even with chemotherapy & radiotherapy which none of them were given as their parents refused - and yet those very same *children* (born between 1984 and 1992) are alive today with *complete* remission, and several of them are now parents of healthy children?
I suggest you read the available public court and congressional records that prove the above, and also look at the public roles of people like David Kessler and Michael Friedman at the FDA & NCI, and Dr Svorid at Elan Pharmaceuticals and at the NCI, to find out why they and BigPharma have been so keen to stop antineoplaston therapy being subjected to widescale clinical trials.

Wikipedia is not a bad place to start if people want to learn more about "antineoplaston" therapy. Here is a link to the article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antineoplaston
Here are some key excerpts from the article:
"Antineoplaston (ANP) is a name coined by Stanislaw Burzynski for a group of peptides, derivatives, and mixtures that he uses as an alternative cancer treatment. These compounds are not licensed as drugs but are instead sold and administered by Burzynski as part of clinical trials that he runs at his own establishments..."
"The clinical efficacy of antineoplastons combinations for various diseases have been the subject of many such trials by Burzynski and his associates, but these have not produced any clear evidence of efficacy. Oncologists have described these studies as flawed, with one doctor stating that they are "scientific nonsense". In particular, independent scientists have been unable to reproduce the positive results reported in Burzynski's studies."
"There is no convincing evidence from randomized controlled trials in the scientific literature that antineoplastons are useful treatments of cancer and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved these products for the treatment of any disease. The American Cancer Society has stated that there is no evidence that these products have any beneficial effects in cancer and have recommended that people do not buy these products. A 2004 medical review described this treatment as a "disproven therapy"."

Re: Antineoplaston therapy and cancer cure
Remember it's always about the dollars. No one but the sick want a cure for cancer and other diseases also. The drug companies, the FDA, NCI, along with hospitals and doctors do not want a cure. How many hospitals would be closed? How many doctors and nurse would be out of work? How many drugs would the drug companies not be selling if a cure was found? How much unemployment would there be? How much money would the government lose without the payoffs and contributions from these major drug companies that don't want a cure but only want to sell you more drugs so they can profit?
I imagine there is a cure for almost everything that inflicts us all now a days BUT there is no cure for the greed of others. It's so sad that people must die so some pathetic people can put a few more dollars in their pockets. But there day will come. All of us will come to answer for the Good and Bad we have done in our lives.

Re: Antineoplaston therapy and cancer cure
Cancer is not just one homogeneous disease. There are hundreds of types of cancer.. Cancer treatment is now very different than in the past as chemotherapy and "drugs" are tailored to unique components of individual cancer cell characteristics.
If a cure for myeloma is found the drug companies will still have plenty of other new drugs to research to find cures for the many other cancers that are still non-curable. There is no grand conspiracy between the hospitals and drug companies. Please don't bother posting statements such as this. It is untrue, and unwanted.
