Ellen,
Thank you very much for your post. I needed to read something like the words your wrote.
They did conduct an electrophoresis but the results are pending besides my total protein which was normal.

My rash is still a mystery. The rash itself is getting better, but the itchiness is still there and keeps me up at night. On Wednesday, they took two biopsies to see if they can deduce what is causing the rash and the itchiness. I am using a high dose cream called fluocinonide all over my body to attack the rash and itch. My itch feels very similar to being stung by jellyfish.

Re: AC's stem cell transplant in South Florida
AC,
I don't know much about what to expect with labs and how soon after transplant, but I know Ellen does and I am sure everything will turn out well. I hope your rash gets better. I am sure that is a get-on-your nerves kind thing.
My husband is at his low point with counts ANC 0, WBC 0, platelet 24,000 and HGB is 10.7. He has had to have fluid twice in clinic and he is pretty much unable to eat much but peanut butter and crackers in small amounts and sips of fluids. How long can we expect before his counts start an upward swing? He has been getting Neupogen shots for the last four days as well. He has had some diarrhea but has been checked easy with meds. He also has thrown up about 2 or 3 times in a 24 hour period for the past couple of days even with meds. The clinic staff and MD are aware and say everything is going as should be expected. It has been one week since transplant. He is so weak.
Good thoughts to you and glad the worst is behind you.

Re: AC's stem cell transplant in South Florida
Kathy,
My prayers are with you and your husband through this journey. My WBC numbers started to increase on Day +10 and my platelets on Day +12. I found that once I had engrafted and numbers started increasing I felt so much better every day. Today is Day +30 and my WBC is 7.3; Hgb is 13.5; and platelets of 356. Once those baby stem cells start they crank away and I found I felt two steps better for every day after I engrafted. I pray that your husband will have the same result without the rash of course.

Thanks so much, AC. He got platelets today and his WBC & ANC are still 0. His HGB is 10.2 so no worries there so far. It is nine days since transplant so I hope engrafting will start soon. I am so glad you are doing well and thanks for the info and encouragement.

Re: AC's stem cell transplant in South Florida
AC,
These all look great! No monoclonal protein is what you want!
Your gamma globulin is a little low. Don't worry, mine is lower! It is common from treatment and transplant. Other than that, everything looks good. I see that you have hypogammaglobulinema, which means that your immunoglobulins (IgG,IgA,IgM) are low. It would be good to know those numbers. Also to be expected after transplant. Many patients never recover normal numbers of immunoglobulins after transplant. 2 out of three of mine are low, although they do tend to come up if I am off maintenance meds for awhile.
How is your rash, and how are you feeling?
Glad that your labs are looking good!
Regards,
Ellen Harris

Re: AC's stem cell transplant in South Florida
Ellen,
Thank you for your reply. My rash is doing a little better. Even though the stem cell transplant doctor really did not want to place me on steroids, I started last night and the rash is a little better. Interestingly the doctor and dermatologist in the stem cell program told to me get more sun, with sunscreen, to hep the rash. Today I was able to go to the beach and spent two hours walking along the beach.

Re: AC's stem cell transplant in South Florida
Just received my new kappa light numbers. It's only Day +35 and my kappa free light chain numbers keep increasing.
Free Kappa 13.500 (0.330-1.940)
Can anyone let me know what my next approach should be? Tandem stem cell transplant? Just maintenance with Revlimid?
My kappa free light chain numbers were lower before the stem cell transplant at 40 than now after the stem cell transplant.
Thank you
