Test results say:
F1: Abn Prot Band 1 CQ
No M-Spike detected
F2: No abnormal peaks are detected
F3: No abnormal peaks are detected.
I still don't really understand this. Does this mean the cancer is still there, but it is just not detectable?
My mom's kappa and lambda chains are still in the normal range, but they jumped from 5 and 3 to like 9 and 3 in one month. Her k/l ratio is around 3. Not sure how significant this is?
Any advice?
Thanks.

Re: Abnormal protein band 1 in lab test results
I guess that the correct answer is: the cancer is still there, but there are patients who remain in remission for many many years. Some, few?, for more than 20.
I have seen discussions on whether some patients with more than 11 years in remission should be regarded as cured. But I am not sure about the evidence and scientific background for this.
Good to hear about the fine results.

Re: Abnormal protein band 1 in lab test results
Dr. Cohen answered this question when you asked it last month:
"What does "Abnormal Protein Band 1 - No M spike" mean?", Beacon forum discussion started Aug 20, 2014.
Basically, it most likely means that no m-spike was found. It's hard to say for certain with these things, however, because different labs can report things somewhat differently.

Re: Abnormal protein band 1 in lab test results
Her doctor said something about an abnormal kappa protein showing up, but no where in her test results do I see anything except for the "abnormal protein band 1". Is it going to say Abnormal Protein Band 1 on the test result no matter what, or is that truly indicating an abnormal protein band was found? Her doctor is very vague, I just wish I could decipher how he came to the kappa protein band conclusion based on the the test results.
