Zometa side effects?

by Sharona on Tue Jan 14, 2014 7:52 am

My husband Eric went for round 4 of chemo on Thursday expecting to stay his usual 11 days but they told him that his that numbers were all normal and that they would give him a little chemo and start him on Zometa and then send him home on Monday.

He got home last night looking fantastic but today his face is bright red and getting redder by the minute. Could this be a side effect from the Zometa? Any idea anyone?

See the side effects of Zometa, specifically flushing:

The following side effects are common (occurring in greater than 30%) for patients taking Zometa:

Fever usually mild and short lived
Flu-like symptoms; mild fever sometimes accompanied by malaise, chills, fatigue and flushing. Usually occurs with first treatment with Zometa only.

Thankyou so much , yes he is feeling fluey as well and has taken it easy today. He has also gone from 62 lilo's to 69.5 in the last 2 weeks. Things are looking so promising for him and it's sometimes hard to believe that he has Myeloma. Long may it continue.
Take care yourself. x

For the first few treatments of Zometa, Dom would plan on spending the entire next day in bed. He felt as though he'd been run over by a truck.

(Which is how Boniva effects me!)

Glad that things are looking up, Sharona! :)
