Re: Zometa - side effects
After 7 years of Zometa with no side effects other than eye irritation and enlarged jaw bones, I suffered a low impact femur fx. I had some discomfort that felt like bone pain and requested x-ray. Three oncologists said the small lump on bone was nothing to worry about. Radiologist did not have a clue what it meant. After 5 months the femur smashed in eight places at point where exostocis was . These Fxs are extremely rare but caution anyone with unexplained bone pain in thigh to have MRI .

Re: Zometa - side effects
I was treated with Zometa once a month for about 2 years as a standard treatment for multiple myeloma, but had to be discontinued due to the fact it caused necrosis in my jawbone. This is a serious condition that had to be treated by a facial surgeon. However, after about 4 years, I started to develop lesions and tumors on my bones and even caused a fracture in my femur. So they have cautiously restarted the Zometa once monthly again. So far I have had 3 treatments. Hopefully I will be able to take a few more, before causing problems with my jawbone. With regards to any other side effects, I usually feel more tired and achy on the day I get the Zometa, but I consider it to be just minor annoyance, in comparison with the necrosis.
Good luck to all with myeloma!!

Re: Zometa - side effects
After the first infusion only did I experience any effects, and as I described them a while back, it was like having every pain and ache I had ever experienced in my life being intensified - as it if the drug was honing in on all these areas -- but then it all went away after two days.
Since that first time, subsequent infusions have caused no noticeable effects at all - which is a huge relief.
So it may be very easy for you.......
