Hello,
My husband is newly diagnosed and we were just wondering if there are any chemo regimens that allow you to stay well enough to work some of the time during treatment?
He was diagnosed by his PCP with positive SPEP IgA elevation and positive Bence Jones protein in urine along with anemia, bone pain, and fatigue. We see the myeloma specialist on January 7, 2016 for the first time. I am sure he will schedule bone marrow biopsy and bone scans at that time.

I worked throughout my full 10 months of induction therapy. I originally started with CyBord for 2 months than I started KRD. The CyBord treatment was harder on me than the KRD. When I was diagnosed, I was only slightly anemic and in pretty good shape. I rested a lot in the evening and on weekends. I definitely wasn't my old self but I was able to still function. I work in an office and there is no physical demand. I walked daily to stay in shape and keep my spirits up.

Rhonda, thanks for reply. He also works in a office with minimal physical activity that can be modified as needed. I just think it would keep his spirits up if he was able to work at least some of the time.

I worked at a fairly physical job from time of diagnosis until 6 years later when I retired. The only times that I took off were because of a fracture in my arm and for the stem cell transplant.

I hope my hubby can do the same. He is not much for sitting around. I know his spirits would be better if he could work.
