I have failed on almost every treatmment and am now trying a 4 day on and 24 days off chemo with 16mg melphalan and 100 mg predinsone.
What can I expect for side effects and such? I thought this would be easy to find info on, but it seems to be under all the info on newer drugs? Is there a old thread?
Thanks
Derek

Re: What to expect? With melphalan and prednisone only chemo
I, too am supposed to try next Melphalan and prednisone. Dr not specific regarding side effects or how to administer. Just said well toleratedby most. 100 mg of prednisone seems like a lot at once. Can it be given in divided doses?

Hi Merek,
Here is a link that discusses melphalan side effects.
Hope you find it useful.

Re: What to expect? With melphalan and prednisone only chemo
This is a question related to emails in March from Merek007 and S71b76 about treatment with melphalan and prednisone. I assume both people are using this for maintenance, not pre-STC. I am not eligible for STC but need a new maintenance regimen since the cyclophosphamide that kept me going wonderfully (and cheaply) for 16 years has now damaged my bladder. (Should have used Mesna alongside it.) Are you able to describe your dosage now--how many mg of each, and how many days, and are you taking melphalan orally? Best wishes to you both, and thanks.
