What is normal for proteins after ASCT?

by KLR on Wed Jan 13, 2016 11:01 am

My husband had a stem cell transplant last May. He had consolidation for 3 months and now is on maintenance chemo. He has IgA kappa myeloma. All his light chains and heavy chains are increasing slighty every time he has them tested. They are still within the normal range. His kappa/lambda ratio and total protein remain stable. We've been told with IgA that watching the m spike is not reliable/possible. Will they level out at some point? Is this normal? It's starting to feel like a ticking time bomb and I feel anxiety now when it's that time for proteins to be tested.

I am afraid I cannot help. I post because my husband is also IgA kappa and I had not heard that the M-spike is not reliable with IgA kappa.
