Hi,
I have been on a roller coaster since June. I have been unwell for about two years, able to function each day, but just not feeling great. I developed a cough and in July was sent for a biopsy and received a diagnoses of sarcoidosis in the lungs and lymph system. After various doctor appointments, I saw a doctor last Friday who looked at all my recent bloodwork, ordered more and said I needed to go to a hematologist. The hematologist ordered more bloodwork and the results will determine how quickly he needs to see me.
Here are the results of bloodwork over the past week, any ideas?
Iron - 9 lo
Iron saturation - 0.17 Lo
Ferritin - 346 Hi
Alkaline phosphatase -140 Hi
GGT - 155 Hi
Aspartame aminotransferase - 33 hi
IgA - 3.72 hi
IgG - 16.35 hi
Gamma globulin -15 high
I also have thalassemia minor.

Re: What do all these blood test results mean?
Jlc,
I'd really suggest waiting until you've got some more complete lab reports before trying to draw any conclusions. It's really hard for anybody to comment with just a small snapshot of test results like this. Also, thalassemia minor can cause IgG and IgA to be elevated, so it is really hard to draw any conclusions with respect to multiple myeloma with just these lab results.
If you are worried about multiple myeloma, you really need to be looking at the results of the CBC, metabolic panel, serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP), serum immunofixation (IFE), and serum free light chain assay tests.
I know it's hard, but I would try to be patient until you get all the test results in.
