This week's poll is about whether you have ever been treated with Revlimid.
As usual, there are a few clarifications to the poll question:
First, this question is only for readers who have symptomatic / active multiple myeloma (that is, not smoldering myeloma, and not MGUS).
Second, if you are a caregiver or family member of someone who has myeloma, feel free to answer on their behalf
As always, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.
We ran this same poll about a year ago, but we are running it again so that Beacon readers have access to the latest information and can compare it to the previous data.

Re: Weekly Poll - Treatment With Revlimid (Active Myeloma) 2
I was on Revlimid in various doses for a year, but it did not work for me until Velcade started. It also did not work as maintenance therapy either. My cost per month was more like 11,000.

I am on Revlimid now and the monthly cost is $8,400.00 per month. Don't know why they would charge you $500,000.00 for month. Unbelievable. Sounds like someone is committing fraud.

Re: Weekly Poll - Treatment With Revlimid (Active Myeloma) 2
I started taking Lenalidomide (Revlimid) in March 2010 when I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. I understand that it is not normally prescribed as a first treatment but this was part of a research project to compare lenalidomide and thalidomide. My dose has always been 7.5. After the chemo my m-proteine was about 12. Since then it has slowly gone down and is now 3.1. The Lenalidomide is clearly still effective and long may it last! I live in the Netherlands so fortunately the cost is not an issue.

I am 79 year old male who has been on Rev for 2 yrs 8 mos. Quality of life has been fine since dosage lowered to 10mg every other day for 21 days. Little plasma remains though has increased from traces to 0.06 (no sig change). At diagnosis was classified as standard risk. No peripheral neuropathy and walk 25 minutes every day. Ed B.
Re: Weekly Poll - Treatment With Revlimid (Active Myeloma) 2
Diagnosed with multiple myeloma September 2011. Started on a regiment of Velcade,, Rev , Dex four cycles got a complete response. After stem cell draw, started on a 28 day cycle of Rev at 15 Mg. after six months and continued low red and white blood cell count changed to 10 Mg. on 21 day cycle then 7 days off. So far CR continues with no sign of reoccurrence. Bone marrow biopsy in Jan. showed no evidence of multiple myeloma . Do not intend to have transplant until drugs no longer control multiple myeloma.

Re: Weekly Poll - Treatment With Revlimid (Active Myeloma) -
I compared this poll with a similar poll on the use of Velcade. This poll indicates that Revlimid is used by a much higher percentage of those who responded to the polls. All but 14 of the respondants have been on Revlimid at some point. Most who were on it are still on it. That is unlike Velcade. So it appears that Revlimid is perscribed more often than Velcade for both initial induction and expecially maintenance.
