Weekly Poll - Stem Cell Collection

by Beacon Staff on Wed Feb 01, 2012 5:48 pm

This week’s poll question is about stem cell collection.

A few clarifications:

First, this question is only for patients currently diagnosed with active multiple myeloma (that is, not smoldering myeloma or MGUS).

Second, if you are a caregiver or family member of someone with active myeloma, feel free to answer on their behalf.

As always, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.

I was diagnosed multiple myeloma Dec. 2010 (IgA with 80% abnorm plasmacells) and began Thalidomid etc. for a month, without any response. Then I turned to Velcade and Dex. and was in CR mid-May 2011. I am 72 years old and was not recommended stem-cell-transpl. By now I am not in any treatment, control every 3 month and have only minor inconveniences in hands and feets, so I feel myself a very lucky man, not regretting that I choose "no transplant".
