Weekly Poll - Myeloma Therapy At First Relapse

by Beacon Staff on Wed Apr 11, 2012 12:41 pm

This week’s poll is about what myeloma therapy you used after your first relapse.

A few clarifications:

First, please answer this poll only if your multiple myeloma relapsed for the first time within the last two years.

Second, therapy after relapse is sometimes called salvage therapy. Let us know what therapy was initially used after your first relapse to get your myeloma under control. For this question, it does not matter whether you proceeded to have a stem cell transplant as part of your salvage therapy.

Third, to simplify things, we have not listed steroids in any of the above treatment combinations. However, if you received one or more steroids in your treatment regimen, please vote for the regimen above that contains all of the other components of your combination therapy. For example, anyone who was treated with thalidomide or thalidomide plus dexamethasone should vote for "Thalidomide (Thalomid)." Someone treated with Revlimid, Velcade, plus dexamethasone should vote for "Revlimid and Velcade."

Fourth, if you are a caregiver or family member of a myeloma patient, feel free to answer on their behalf.

Fifth, if you received a therapy that is not included in the list above, please use the space below to describe it.

As always, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.

I am a UK patient diagnosed 2008. Relapsed 20 months after high dose Melphalan/SCT . I went onto Velcade regime but relapsed after 6 months. Then followed Revlimid regime, allowed in the UK after two previous failed treatments. Paraprotein levels/marker came down from 55mgl to 11mgl .I am now on a maintenance regime of Revlimid plus 4days of accompanying Dexamethazone/steroid at the start of 28 cycle.

To confirm- treatment following SCT relapse was Velcade.

I'm surprised more didn't receive Velcade...it saved my life!
