This week’s poll topic is about what your initial myeloma therapy was upon your diagnosis. We are asking a series of these questions, one for each of several different countries.
A few clarifications:
First, this particular poll question is for residents of the USA only. (Other polls for other countries are coming soon!)
Second, please answer this poll only if you have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma within the last two years.
Third, initial therapy is frequently called induction therapy. It does not matter for this question whether you proceeded to have a stem cell transplant after the initial therapy.
Fourth, if you are a caregiver or family member of a myeloma patient, feel free to answer on their behalf.
Fifth, if you received a therapy that is not included in the list above, please use the space below to describe it.
As always, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very useful to other readers.

Re: Weekly Poll - Initial Myeloma Therapy - USA - 2015
I was on Revlimid and dexamethasone for only 3 weeks before I broke out in hives and had to discontinue their use. However, It did a lot of good during those 2 weeks. M-spike came down and kidney function greatly improved.
Will now try Velcade.
Will now try Velcade.

Re: Weekly Poll - Initial Myeloma Therapy - USA - 2015
I joined a clinical trial at the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center in November 2013, after my initial diagnosis in September 2013, and one month after a confirmation of active disease by the Mayo Clinic in mid October 2013. I started with a regimen of either a placebo or 3 mg MLN9708 (ixazomib), 25 mg (reduced to 15 mg) Revlimid; and 40 mg dexamethasone.
I reached a stringent complete response in December 2014, and am on a maintenance dose of placebo or 2 mg of MLN9708 and 10 mg Revlimid.
So, either with the 3 drug combination, or just the Revlimid / dex, it means I have achieved an sCR in a little over a year. I'm very happy!

Re: Weekly Poll - Initial Myeloma Therapy - USA - 2015
I was on Velcade, Revlimid and dexamethasone for the first four months. When my toes and fingers became numb, the Velcade and dex were removed and for the last 12 months have only taken Revlimid. Unfortunately, the bone marrow results of one week ago showed 30% myeloma activity. I am now going to take Pomalyst and dex for the future cycles. I hope I get better results with this regimen. Has anyone else tried Pomalyst after Velcade?

My initial therapy was Revlimid (25 mg, now 10 mg), dex (40 mg per week and now 20 mg) and elotuzumab. I am on a clinical trial. I feel great and have had few side effects.

Re: Weekly Poll - Initial Myeloma Therapy - USA - 2015
My wife (age 60) was diagnosed November 2015. initial lambda light chain value was 1830. Multiple bone lesions. Bone marrow plasma cells at 50%. Monoclonal.
Initial treatment was CyBorD. Velcade was SQ (subcutaneous). Treatment once weekly.
After one cycle light chain count was 15. After five cycles light chain count at 6.
She took the therapy well with 3 complications. Headaches on the days following the Velcade injections. Bilateral DVT (treated early) and amyloidosis in the bone marrow.
May 2015 marrow biopsy showed the plasma cells to be less than 5% and no monoclonal cells observed. Day Zero of her stem cell transplant (SCT) was June 5. Wish us luck on the SCT.
