This week, we'll be running two polls. This one is about who you know that has monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). The other is about who you know that has smoldering myeloma:

Even if you don't personally know anyone with these diseases, please take the time to answer both polls.
A few clarifications:
First, this question is open to all Beacon readers.
Second, the poll options refer to how the people you know are related to you. For example, "Mother" refers to your mother.
Third, you may have met many friends with MGUS since you or your loved one's diagnosis. For the purpose of this poll, please don't vote for friends with MGUS that you met because of your or your loved one's diagnosis (e.g., at a treatment center, support group meeting, etc). In other words, only vote for "Friend" if your friend is the only person you know with MGUS, if you had a friend diagnosed with MGUS prior to you or your loved one's diagnosis, or if a long-term friend was also diagnosed with MGUS after you or your loved one's diagnosis.
As always, feel free to post comments, thoughts, or feedback in the space below. They can be very helpful to other readers.
For those who are interested, we ran a similar poll a while back asking about who you know that has multiple myeloma:

Re: Weekly Poll - Family And Friends With MGUS
I'm glad to see the poll about MGUS. I have thought it curious that my father was diagnosed with MGUS and that I was diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple Myeloma within a year later. We have lived close on adjoining acreage for 30 years. A portion of that, while we were building our home, my husband and I lived in the garage on my dad and mom's property. Although I have been exposed to variety of carcinogens through out my life as an artist (solvents,dyes... ) and in building my home (creosote, fiberglass insulation... ) The one carcinogen my dad and I were both exposed to was the insecticide used to kill carpenter ants in and around the home...
