VRD / RVD and extreme fatigue

by hopeful27 on Tue May 20, 2014 4:05 pm

Anyone out there on a VRD [Velcade-Revlimid-dexamethasone, also RVD] regimen? My mom has been on it for a few weeks, and she sleeps all the time! I guess if that's the only side effect she should be considered lucky?

Any one else out there had any experience with VRD side effects?

I have been on RVD for the last 6 months. Except for occasional bad days, I have had few side effects. I exercise every day . I was very active before my diagnoses and I am sure that has something to do with it. But I seem to be functioning very well.

I'm on Revlimid now to combat a rise in my lambda light chains and I have extreme fatigue. I don't necessarily sleep a lot and in fact I have trouble napping, but I feel like I should be all during the day. I've just finished my second cycle and I don't know if things will improve with time.

I suspect that age might enhance the fatigue.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but when I was on VRD, the Revlimid made me sleepy. So I took that at night before I went to bed and it seemed to help with the sleepiness aspect ... at least I wasn't falling asleep or feeling tired during the day because of the Revlimid.

Also, with the dexamethasone, I'd have more energy for a couple of days after I took it and then 1-2 days after that where I felt somewhat tired. I always took the dexamethasone in the morning because it would cause me to feel a little more hyper afterwards.

Anyway, I was able to continue working out almost every day. I did dial the workouts back a little on my "tired dexamethasone" days.

Interesting observation DallasGG. I seem to be tired 24/7, but I believe I will try taking it at bedtime next round.
