Greetings everyone,
A friend of mine told me that vitamin K2 might be good for my bones. Said it 'pulls the calcium out of your blood and helps keep it in the bones' (or something like that). I have no cardiovascular issues, but my bones were damaged by myeloma (multiple small lesions). Did the Zometa for 2 years, but have been off that for more than a year.
Is it common to have multiple myeloma and be advised to take vitamin K2 for bone health?
Life is good and at this time I am happily coasting on 'maintenance therapy' (5 mg Revlimid - 21 on, 7 off). Numbers are stable. I am 2 years post-transplant.
Best wishes to all who are struggling with this disease and the side effects of its treatment.

Re: Vitamin K2 for bone health?
I was advised to use a vitamin D supplement that included Vitamin K2. Even though I spend a lot of time outdoors in the sunshine, I tend to be Vitamin D deficient because I use sunscreen. I now take 2000 IU of D3 with 75 mcg of K2 daily. Here's a good article on the subject of K2 supplementation:

And here is a post from Jacqueline on the subject as it relates to myeloma.
