HI all, Diana's daughter here again.

I'm sorry its been some time. Just a small note that Mom passed away on July 18th, quite peacefully, before she even managed to go home. We had done all the preparations and she was just hours from being transported home where we thought she had a few more weeks, but Mom had different plans.

What I can tell you is that she was very concerned that the time she spent will eventually be of help to others dealing with this awful disease. One of the last things she asked of her medical team was, "But did I help you?"

It's been a really weird situation with Covid-19 and lockdowns, and we could not even have a proper funeral for her. Because of where we live (Los Angeles County), there were severe restrictions about the funeral home, cemetery, etc. Here they tell us a woman who raised five children and has a large family could only have three people at a graveside service? That's just not okay. So, for now, we honored Mom's wishes. She was cremated and we will be holding a service at a later date when it's safer for everyone.

I wish I had better news, but she definitely pushed hard though that trial, and things were looking really good. It's my understanding from the team that it was working, but the CAR T-cells were ultimately killed off because of the infections, which is something we were well aware was possible. I'm sure the medical team have better answers about the technicalities.

Hello Diana's family and friends,

I am so sorry for your loss. If Diana had asked those who have followed her myeloma journey here here if she helped, I'm sure the answer would be a resounding "Yes!". Ever since I was diagnosed, CAR T-cell therapy has been a beacon for me. It still is, but it is now, while Covid-19 is in our midst, a more balanced desire.

May whatever higher power you look to help you through this time,

Janice

I was so excited to see a thread by Diana when I came to the forum today and now feel devastated over her loss. I was diagnosed around the same time as Diana and this made me feel we had a connection. My condolences to her family.
