Re: Diana's CAR T-cell therapy journey

by dianaiad on Thu Mar 26, 2020 12:06 pm

Update:

Had all my tests yesterday, and spoke with the doctor, who says my light chains still aren't up high enough to use as a "measure." However, that thing on the back of my head has enough multiple myeloma cells, and with enough CS1 sensitivity, that they are going to use it.

The doctor said that it's too bad that the COVID-19 is messing with everybody. You would not believe the stringent testing going on there. They wouldn't allow my daughter to be with me at all while I was getting tested on campus. She spent the day looking for a restroom elsewhere.

However, my meyeloma is not, said the doctor, paying attention to the calendar or the rules regarding quarantine, and I could be in real trouble by the time they "open the country." So..I'm getting admitted tomorrow, Friday, March 27th. I'll have treatment to knock down my immune response on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with the CAR T-cell infusion on Thursday, April 2, one week from today.

No visitors allowed at any time. I'm going to be so bored. Thank you, electronics!

See you all soon.

Update:

It's day three of the chemotherapy infusions. Everybody is being very cautious about COVID-19, so I'm allowed no visitors. Even my doctor does phone visits. ;)
