Hello all,
Tomorrow is the last day of my first round of Vidaza, which are chemotherapy injections they are giving me in my stomach for treatment-related myelodysplasia. The problem is that my stomach is an angry red from side to side, and feels like I have a severe burn. I asked the nurse, and she told me a warm compress might help. I tried that, but it only made it worse. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mary

Re: Skin reaction to Vidaza injections - any advice?
Personally I would put a call into your oncologist and have him look at it. I know irritation at the site of the injection is not uncommon, but if it is as bad as you say then I would not just take the word of the nurse.

My husband had some relief from a red rash from Velcade injections by using fresh aloe vera, directly from the plant. I also agree with previous poster that it's a good idea to call your oncologist.

Definitely call your oncologist, but you can also try hydrocortisone. I had sunburn-like patches after each Velcade injection. I smeared on hydrocortisone, and the itching stopped. The redness decreased within a week. Jean's suggestion of aloe sounds good, too.
