Since August 2014, I have been on RVD (Revlimid, Velcade, dexamethasone). The Revlimid was stopped due to a bad skin rash.
Now after 8 cycles, I have developed small bump-like things on my hands under skin, they look and feel like scabs or blisters. I did have a problem with eczema, so it could just be that.
Has anyone experienced this skin reaction to Velcade?

Hi ethomas,
If you are taking Velcade, it could be shingles. Call your doctor as soon as possible. The faster you get treated, the less painful it will be.

I think I've had the same thing you're talking about. Just a small little bump under the skin – in my case, one on the back of each hand. I have had them for months and months, so long now that I've forgotten when I first noticed them. Probably around the time I started Revlimid maintenance after my SCT. So that would be about 1 1/2 years ago now. They don't hurt or anything, and you can barely see them when you look at my hands. Does that sound like what you've got?
I've wondered whether they might be related to multiple myeloma or to my treatment, but I keep forgetting to ask my doctor about them.
At any rate, over the last month or so, the spot on my left hand has disappeared. I'm hoping the one on the right hand goes away soon too.
Having said that, Lyn is probably right in her advice to you to discuss this with your doctor.

Mine are in the palm of my hands and all I feel is tightness of the skin. It sometimes feels like one or two fingers are swollen, but no pain. They only react when I shower with hot water.

Hi,
I have not taken Velcade - but did take thalodomide and dex. When I quit taking those drugs after a 10 month period of time, within about 2 weeks time I developed bulges under the skin of the palms of my hands and soles of my feet; also one bulge on my forehead. I managed to get the one on my forehead removed and the result was that it was determined that it was a lipoma ("fatty tumor"). (See related Beacon forum thread, "Thalidomide-dex - bullous protusions / lipomas," started Sep 27, 2014.)
I have attempted to get something done with the bulges on my feet, but have been unsuccessful, as the pedi- doctors I have seen are either all idiots or do not have the skills to deal with the problem. These nitwits keep wanting to x-ray my feet. As most people with an IQ of over 80 know, soft tissue problems do not show well on x-rays, so we keep ending up with x-rays that show my heel spurs. Big deal, I've had those for years and don't need x-rays to know they are there.
I don't know if the info on my hands and feet are any help to you, but thought it might be of some interest.

I have had shingles and they normally are primarily on your torso and occur on only one side. Mine were primarily on my upper left-hand chest and went under my armpit onto my back. There was some extension down my left arm. These things are EXTREMELY PAINFUL, and I think the person having them would be seeking aid from a doctor just for pain relief !!
